Yes, I'm starting a new thread about an old topic. Hoping it'll get more attention.

I am late too\ the party and only recently put a reservation in, even after price hikes and all. I don't see a Lightning coming my way any time soon and while I am on the early list for the Ram, that's a ways out at best too. Plus, I'm liking the idea of a smaller truck the more I think about it.

Anyway, I'm a music freak so naturally I start researching the stereo/ music situation. Meridian system seems like a no-brainer for me. Then I think, hmm I better see if I can use my USB stick full of music in this Rivian like I can in my 2016 truck. Or maybe there's some new technology? Or maybe I'll need to store it on my phone, in which case I'll need more memory. Then I come here and discover there's no GOOD way to listen and control any music that's not streaming?!?

"The Rivian is the most technologically advanced adventure truck! Fill it with your toys and take it out to your favorite outdoor destination (where there's no internet) then enjoy yourself while listening to mu.... oh, never mind"

Fa' reals? My 2016 GMC truck handles a massive USB stick and interfaces really well. I tried Android Auto and didn't really like it, but to be fair, that was in 2016 when I got the truck. However, I'd be willing to adapt if that was an option. I'm a big enough music freak that if I can't connect some device full of my music and reliably navigate through and pick what I want to listen to from the infotainment, then this might be a deal breaker. C'mon, it's 2023 already!

You should be able to bluetooth your music from your phone. Some have said that it is not as good but we cannot tell a difference as we do this all the time.

You mention the Meridian system. Be advised that it is discontinued in favor of a Rivian Designed system. Rather than go into details, search the forums, there are EXTENSIVE discussions about that and also AA/CP.

Unlike your 2016 GMC it could have this feature next week in an update. There's so many one off use-cases that like .5% of the population use - systems like GMC have legacy MMC that are kinda junk in 99% of uses - but they do at least have years of feature add. It'll get added i'm sure but dunno the priority level. Spotify and some other phone apps can handle offline music storage and stream to the truck, won't be same quality i'm sure.

And I hate to single you out but why does every feature request have to be on a soapbox? Just present your requests and see how many others want it, if it's popular Rivian will adopt it.

That's fair. I just got on this forum a few days ago and am unsure how all of this works. I was just completely dumbfounded that this didn't exist on what seems like an extremely technogicaly advanced vehicle. In my world, this is like forgetting to put windshield wipers on the vehicle! I think I'm a LONG way from getting a truck, so hopefully it will be rectified by that time.
I'll look up this request area you speak of and see what happens.

It’s unofficial but I’m sure Rivian checks it out, https://rivian.software/wish/

I’m not sure being able to connect a USB device equates to technologically advanced, some would argue the opposite. Welcome to the forum!

I completely agree. I would consider it "at a minimum". Apparently, it doesn't even have that...
