If they eliminate the Large pack, and don’t adjust pricing, that would be a $16k price difference in just the battery. They would need to increase the standard pack to be closer to the capacity of the large.
Or they could just adjust pricing, who knows

Am I understanding that on a daily basis I should be charging the R1T large pack with all terrain tires to 219 (.8 times 274) and that real world range at apx 75 mph will be less than this?

You should be charging so that the minimum charge doesn't regularly go below ~15-20%.

If you are driving 200 miles five days a week the large pack R1T with AT tires is the wrong vehicle.

the battery isn’t even that big of an increase though. Large pack is 135kW. The Max pack isn’t 180 like people first thought. It’ll be somewhere close to 150. It’s a premium that’s HIGHWAY ROBBERY. now granted, they can do what they want and I don’t have to pay for it if I don’t want it, blah blah blah, but…this is WILD.
This is exactly the question that should be asked. Originally, they said R1S couldnt have max pack due to space limits. But now suddenly they can? That means the max pack isn't 180 anymore. I think it's going to end up at 157.5kwh (large pack plus half of the 45kwh difference). If it was 180, the R1T would be advertising 450 miles on dual motor.

I bet they allow us to purchase the "Performance Dual Motor" as a software update after purchase of the truck. Kind of like Tesla does with their acceleration boost.
Maybe, I was told that they don't want to do this because they'd like to charge post price hike owners a higher amount for the software unlock and blow
Has Rivian disclosed that the max pack will be LFP? LFP energy density is usually much worse. It’s all around much worse, actually, except for cost.
No way lfp is being used for Max. Edv only

I'm not a battery expert but I disagree with charging high or low in the pack causes damage. You can't access the top or the bottom so there is no true 0 or 100% access. The battery is going to degrade with charging cycles over time regardless of what you do to it. The battery warranty is 8 years 175,000miles charge however you need. The manufacturer just trys to make you charge like that to save them. If you could could truly charge to 100% doing that and leaving it there would be bad but you can't so it doesn't matter. Even your cell phone is never truly dead or fully charged.
I had a 2019 leaf and you didn't have the option through the car to limit the charge, and it had no thermal management, I drove it for 50k miles and it didn't lose 1%of capacity(verified by the dealer).

I question the validity of the tire/mileage numbers given by Rivian unless the buyer is staying with the same tire at replacement time. If the rubber compound, tread pattern, tire patch is the same on both the 21's and 22's, the only difference is 1/2" of sidewall flex from axle to the pavement. That constitutes an extra 40 miles of travel from the dual/max r1t? I can't believe Rivian is placing a sticky Y or Z rated 22" tire on the truck to create a 40 mile drop.
I wonder if the difference is partially due to a lighter wheel weight on the 21”. Overall it’s 4 pounds lighter per wheel, and on the 22” more of the mass is distributed farther from the axle, which I imagine leads to higher rotational inertia.

So are they going to take away range for the large pack quad motor? My large quad says 290 in all purpose on a full charge. How did it get to 274?

Oh they most certainly are giving you the top 100%. This can be easily verified by looking at BMS data at 100%.

Trust me they aren't. Unless you are looking at that data with a factory scanner you aren't seeing the truth. It's showing you 100% of what they are allowing it to be charged to in the BMS. The R1T uses 2170 cells, a single 2170 cell has 18.23 wh. The large pack consists of 7,776 cells do the math and it comes out to almost 142kwh. The batteries are always slightly bigger in terms of true total capacity than what they advertise.
The factory sticker I've seen on a taycan battery that i repaired that shows the serial number and engineering data actually shows the battery in that cars true capacity is over 100kwh, but they advertise 93kwh and only let you use 87kwh.

Will quad large be a better pick than duo + max pack? I had the quad max Ordered. Has anyone heard 2024 they move to 800v architecture? This whole bait and switch thing makes me feel they overpromised and can’t do.
