Got 3 out of 4 brackets on the passenger side installed but looks like I stripped the last bolt on the truck. Any ideas how to get it off?

When you say the bolt is stripped are you
saying the torx bit has spun in the bolt and ground out the contact points for the tp55 torx bit

Correct. No matter how much I push up now, the torx but slips now.

It seems like there have been quite a few customers who didn't get the TP55 an T20 bits included. Has a root cause of the omissions been found and remediated? Or should we just order a backup to be safe and prevent installation delays?
We had a small snafu - a few orders got packed with extra bolts, but not the TP55/T20. And we had a couple fedex box destructions, where the bolt kit fell out of a blown box. Anyone who contacted, we've shipped replacements or they found a local TP55. The bits are IN the hardware bag:

I have a hard time believing this, considering how the all-weather mats for my R1S arrived from Rivian /s

I see ev is offering to assist. Let them help

Just general fyi

There are a couple of ways to remove bolts that are stripped. Sometimes a tool called an easy out may work but those frame bolts are in there pretty tight

the old tried and true method used with ICE vehicles when you could simply remove the battery cable to isolate the electrical system is described below but need to have Rivian input on this one fiest. You would weld a large bolt to the stripped bolt. Then screw it out. But the Rivian being a computer on wheels you would need manufacturers guidance on the possibility of welding on a rolling computer as the welding could introduce electrical disturbances and damage sensitive electrical components on your truck. Good luck

HV systems are completely isolated but I'd still be concerned about blowing up the non-isolated 12V stuff.

Before you do damage to the bolt head if it hasn't stripped, get a new bit from amazon or napa.

Great suggestion I was assuming the bolt was damaged when it may be the bit. Also what about the possibility that you had a T55 bit and not the required TP55 bit

Bolt is the issue, bit is fine. Just finished up all the brackets on the driver side with no issues. Will work with ev sports line and possibly put in a service ticket to see if Rivian can replace the bolt.

Bummer you can’t finish the install today but your plan to involve EV Sportline and Rivian is the best and safest for your truck

good luck

I went to order the running boards and shipping was nearly half as much as the cost of the boards ($349). Is that correct? I’ve had tons of heavy truck/off-road/adventure gear and never paid that much for freight, let alone 40% of the cost of a product. Would buy in a second if not for that.

Can you grab the bolt head with vice grip or knipex pliers? Sometimes you can use a chisel to rotate bolt or grind a slot for regular screw driver with hammer for impact.
