Driving from Cannon beach to Crescent city CA. Attempted to charge at the Lincoln city RAN without success. I tried 3 separate chargers and they would all go red after 30 seconds or so. My car would stay white. Contacted Rivian and they walked me through 3 hard resets, but no luck. I’m currently charging at the Newport OR EA, and is working great (who would have thought)
Hoping that the chargers at Coos bay and Crescent city will work.

customer service technician was great! Very kind. Checked in on me to see if I had been able to initiate charging at EA as well.
I charged successfully at the Lincoln City RAN on Saturday 3/9. There was one other Rivian charging there as well.

Thanks. I actually met a really cool guy charging a Limestone R1T in Crescent city successfully. I pulled in immediately after he left at the same charger and it didn’t work for me. That completely erased any doubts about the fact that the problem is my truck!

We were just there this weekend, and only one charger wasn't working, everything else worked well. I did see a couple in a Volvo attempt to charge their vehicle, so I wonder if that had something to do with??

Have you tried a hard reset yet?

Yes, customer service technician walked me through 3 hard resets with no luck. It’s definitely something with the hardware, although I’m able to charge at other DCFC’s

Dang! Sorry to hear that. I hope they figure out for you quickly.

Sorry to hear it! I’ve never successfully used a RAN yet. I could charge anywhere but at a Rivian charger. When it finally went in for service on that issue it turned out to need replacement charging hardware. I haven’t been anywhere near a RAN to try it again, but it did work on their one at the SC after the repair and didn’t before. Point being, it’s likely a L3 charging module issue… they originally thought the truck wasn’t registered on the RAN network since it worked everywhere else, but it was hardware.

I’m pretty sure that will be what is going on with my truck. How long did it take them to fix the issue?

Once at the SC it took a couple days to get the truck back. It wasn’t a long procedure.

Hoping that it will take 2 days or less. I have my appointment on May 1st, and I’m already sad about not having my truck for some time.

Every time I drop off the truck at the SC I’m sad… doesn’t help that I’m clearly not the right size for the Polestar I keep getting as a rental!

Got my car back from the shop. They had to change a module and it’s supposed to be able to charge at the RAN sites now.
FYI for anyone who encounters this problem in the future. Costumer service reps were very nice, but they were trying to convince me that since I was able to charge fine at other DCFC sites, that my car was fine and my issue was kind of a fluke. I had to insist on making a service appointment, which hopefully took care of the problem.

Let us know how the next RAN charging goes.

I wonder if this was really a computer/authorization issue for plug and charge more than anything.

Will do. It will likely take a while. We are picking up my wife’s R1S this coming Tuesday, which is the car we’ll be using for our road trips now!
