20” became our top priority with tire choices. Ideally, no RUS would’ve been the best scenario, as we suddenly started loving the GW more than El Cap.

A bit of research showed that RUS is more like an insurance, and it also seems like Rivian is playing this new strategy to make money off of the pre-hike res holders, that are edgy with a shop access.

Anyways, they got what they needed and we did too…

My pre-order is July 2021, delivery estimate Aug-Sep 2023. I tried chat again yesterday and I called customer service today. Both times they told me the same story as before ("based solely on pre-order date and service center proximity") and that there's no way for them to put in a shop request otherwise

Update, was just doing another round of hopelessly checking my account for access and I got it!

Oh I see! I would've jumped on the other two LE GW R1S’s from yesterday but I wanted the 22” wheels and they had 20’s.

I won’t be off-roading my R1S so having the RUS was not important to me. I just added it as it was offered during my original configuration and I didn’t want to have any regrets later. Then I started thinking, I’m never gonna need it but I was afraid to change my configuration for fear of an even further delivery window so I kept it. Same with the PPF. I can always get it done locally. So when this LE R1S showed up this afternoon I had to move quickly.

Unlikely, I do not believe they put returns back in the shop, jump on it if you like it, good problem to have…

My understanding is these are brand new builds and are 2023 Launch edition R1S’s. I’ve seen a few on the resale market and on YouTube. I say grab it, I locked one down too!

Doesn't this pricing show that holding 'Adventure' reservation but securing a LE in the R1S Shop still brings the free wheel upgrade (and free special paint) to the deal? I'm paying only the +$2K for the Forest Edge interior which I absolutely love.

LET'S FRICKIN' GOOOOOO!!! I saw that big dump of R1S' around 11a PT today and jumped on the first one in my list, which was my config, but with the added "bonus" of a LE, as well as underbody shield. I was originally just an Adventure Pkg no LE, so the wheel upgrade was included, but the shield was extra...so those costs balanced each other out. All-in-all, it was basically right on the money as far as my config is concerned, AAAND, it's the same price as what I had, so that's a win-win. Wanted to stay under $80k even though I signed the August agreement, but wasn't taking any chances with the finicky IRS and their constant 'clarifications'. VIN is 2023-93xx!!! She must have just rolled off the line!!! See my sig for my config...

Thanks to all those that posted the last few months, you helped me a great deal in strategy and tactics to get this. Ultimately, what worked for me, was I initially asked my Guide for Shop access (which was initially a dead-end), then went on an R1S test drive on 4/20/23 that I was invited to. During and after the test drive, I asked multiple reps for access, then I asked my Guide again last week 5/1/23...and access was granted the next day. The shop had been empty 99% of the time until this morning when they dropped a ton! Now I'm in the 8-step process!

I just picked up a LE vin 43xx. Hopefully it isn’t a lemon as it seems vins are in the 9000 range now.

Where do you go to see the vin? I reserved an LE from the shop but all I see is that my configuration now shows the vehicle to be the LE but I don’t see anything else. I also got an email from Rivian to start the purchase process but when I click get started it just brings me to the website I don’t see anything different.
