So, speaking in hypotheticals, if someone with the 21" wheels were to get some 20" rims that fit the AS+ 275/60/20s, they hypothetically wouldn't have to get their truck recalibrated (assuming they are fine with a slight difference in speedo). ?

The difference in this case is only a tenth of an inch or 0.3%, so yeah, the speedo difference will be very slight indeed. (With 275/60/20 speedo will read 65 when you're actually going 65.2).

In the case of going from 22s to same 20s means a slightly bigger but still tiny difference, +.05%. so "65" is actually 65.3.

I recently made the switch as well from the 20” AT to the Pirellis. I drive in all-purpose mode. Here is what I’m getting after resetting the history:
Rivian R1T R1S Scorpion AS+ tire swap (from 20" Scorpion AT) - WOW big difference IMG_9605

I was so excited to get the tires I forgot to take a pic. ??‍♂

initially when I reset the history there was a drop in range compared to my old tires. I can see a negative difference of about 10 miles on the current wheels but it’s improving. I am sure it will take a little more time to fully see the effect.

I’ll take another pic at 1k

So you were getting more than 2.43 with the 20 AT tires? Am I not sure if I am following you

I can’t say that for sure. I drove over 30k on the AT so the truck adjusted to my driving style. I am sure if I drive another 30k on the AS tires my efficiency will be better than the AT.

I’m comparing the miles when I charge to 80% then seeing what I have left when I do my usual every other day charge. I’m usually left with about 90 miles on the AT but this time with the AS I had 80 miles.

Sorry I don’t have the old numbers.

I can tell you that the first 100 miles on AS I was getting around 2.25mi/kWh. That was mostly city driving. We will see what numbers I get after 1k.

They must be magic then. Wow. I can barely average 2.0 kw/m in factory 21s.
Really? Seems low. I’m averaging 2.17 on stock 20 AT. I drive 95% in all purpose, standard height. Mix of highway and local streets. Use A/C a third of the time

I haven't got my Rivian yet, but I'm also planning to swap the tires pretty much immediately after delivery. However, I was eyeing 275/65R20 tire from Michelin (Defender LTX M/S). It seems like most people in this thread prefer 275/60. Apologies for the noob question, but what are disadvantages of going with 275/65? It will be very close to a stock 20 inch tire and won't require recalibration.

The 60 is a smaller tire and should give better efficiency since it’s the same diameter at the stock 21. Down side is you need recalibration and the price from the service center has been any where from $60, $80, $140 and another reporting $400ish. Can’t remember the exact numbers. But for now until they make this something you can do your self via the touchscreen like that other big electric car company has then the best move may be sticking with the stock size is an all season. You will still get a slight efficiency gain and less tire noise. Thinking about doing the Nokian one HT myself. Maybe the Michelin. Depends on what’s available when I need tires.
