My truck, when backing up or pulling forward and close to objects, as expected, brings up the proximity sensor display on the center cluster screen. For a while, have noticed that the rear sensor area says "off", which would be those in the rear bumper of the truck. All the others work properly and show how close the objects are.

Is there a setting for turning sensors on and off? Tried looking and couldn't find anything. All my settings are turned to on.

Before scheduling a service appointment, figured I'd ask if anyone knows first?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Go into the driver plus settings and turn off rear accessory mode.

Also, tow mode will turn them off.

Ding, ding, ding!
That was it. THANK YOU!!

Assuming it's a new feature that must have defaulted to "On" when it installed as I don't recall ever turning it on.

Thanks again!

I noticed this happened to my R1T as well. But unfortunately only after I hit a small post in a parking lot during a rain storm. Camera did not see well so this was actually a time I really needed the proximity sensors. And perhaps a proper bumper. This is beyond frustrating...truck will be in the body shop for a while and Rivian has only offered an appointment in their service center hours away. Thanks for all the help Rivian! I have no vehicle and $$$ out of my pocket.

Try not to hit objects with your vehicle?

One other note on this. My rear parking alerts were off, and this was noted on the screen when trying to back up. When I went into driver assistance settings, there was language that said some accessories could affect backup alerts. I unplugged a USB-C power cord that was being used for the backseat console and the rear parking assist functions started working again.

I was wondering if something like this might be happening. I usually see the alerts when I hook up a trailer. Lately though I have noticed that I don't get any alerts when backing only from sides. It let me back into a car behind me, though it was my fault for still having it in reverse when I thought it was going forward.
I will have to dig into mine.

When you disconnect from tow mode, it also turns them back on - which is very annoying for me as I have a swingaway spare tire carrier so every time I’m done towing I have to go back in and disable the rear sensors 😂
