I personally felt their initial $ figure, pre-IPO, should of been set in the $25-35 range. I vaguely recall at one point, they were set to go public at about $38, but when they went to $78, I decided not to chance buying 500 shares; I scaled it down to just 100. Still under water, but will hold out until my RMD's kick in, if it's still under by then, I can use it to offset capital gains, so, I've got 7 years to see what happens. In the meantime, since the production numbers were announced, I put in a CALL on RIVN for $20 2 days ago... made 101.19%... I think I should of waited a few more minutes but getting better on putting emotions aside!

Expected range was initially $57 to $62. It got bumped a few times before they finalized on $78. Pre-IPO for reservation holders was limited to 175 shares.

The last round of private funding had Rivian shares around ~$40, and valued at over $30B.

When IPO'd and priced at $78, many believed it was over valued, let alone when opened much higher around $100, and valued at over $100B.

Current market cap (at $25/share) is $20B. So we are still below pre-IPO valuation for the company.

I had made a comment while back in one of the thread that Rivian needs to do an investor day (generic term for those of you think this is a Tesla thing - no, its a way to communicate to the investment world in a mass). and with the right PR, Rivian can show how they are progressing along their strategy. At the time I'd said that the stock price could easily 2x from then (~was around $14/share). RJ has been doing that between the one-on-one interviews and meeting with investment houses.

The best thing, for the stock, after getting the deliveries up is for RJ to manage expectations and PR work with the investment community. Looks like its paying off...

What do you really think Rivian is worth??
$40 billion?

Rivian market cap currently is $20 billion and Lucid is $16 billion.

Ford is worth $59 billion and GM is $55 billion
I doubt that legacy companies, even Ford and GM, will last more than 10 or 15 years. I think Tesla and other new companies will swallow them.

I lost a lot at the beginning. Sold a bunch to take a loss for taxes at $27. Bought a bunch more at $15 and now finally feeling ok.

I'm still hodling my 100 IPO shares. I've purchased a bit more as it's gone down so my averaged cost per share is somewhere around $35.

With this quarter, I'm actually starting to feel optimistic.

I paper-handed at 23.80, made quite a bit. I’ll look for a reentry point under $20, but looking great and happy for you longs.

I dumped half as a hedge for this run between $24.95 and $24.97.

Holding the other half to dump between $35 - $50 and swing trade to grow my long term stack.

averaged way down when it was in the $12-$14 range and sold everything today at $25

i'm holding my original 175 IPO shares until I can trade those in for a Rivian one day. Be it a R1 or R2 or R3, never selling until I can clear a Rivian with those shares.

Edit: Need to change my username now that i'm not way underwater on RIVN shares can't be that tilted or salty driving the best vehicle on the road and having made a good amount of money on the company

Just surprised it did not get thrown out. ??‍♂
Obviously, the lawsuit has merit. Who believes Rivian leadership had no idea they needed to raise MSRP because their COGS were completely out of alignment with pre-launch pricing prior to IPO?

I bet all those shorts are getting squeezed right now.

Feeling good about continuing to buy as it got low and holding out. Nearly even myself.

Buying IPO stock always has risk, purchaser takes that on, IPO was 11/21, price raise was 3/22 when battery materials were spiking and everyone making EVs were raising prices. Add to that that they honored the original prices for early reservations shows the prices were not fraudulently set low.

Lawsuit will go nowhere just a drag they have to deal with it.
