Really hope Rivian sticks to their guns on no CarPlayI’m with you, but we appear to be in a minority. I have no interest in the other apps from my phone if the core stuff (nav, inc. redirects and charging - which we get with ABRP …. s00n) works well.
Wassym indicated that they are looking at contractual options to include Apple Music, which would be nice. I personally don’t want the rest of it, though. Comparing a carplay interface in my kid’s eGolf (which is great! don’t get me wrong) to the UI in the Rivian … it’s clear they are different target audiences.
I would have agreed pre-update. Post update, it’s very useable. The issue is maps. Give me Google maps for nav and we won't have a problem. Rivian navigation is far from ideal.
People bitching about people wanting Apple CarPlay is annoying AF. So stop winning about it.CarPlay is annoying AF. Please stop brining it up.
I don’t know if this post was serious, in jest, or trolling, but it sure stirred up the haters.People bitching about people wanting Apple CarPlay is annoying AF. So stop winning about it.
Yeah I don’t get it. A small vocal minority is so upset that anyone would dare want Apple CP in their Rivian.I don’t know if this post was serious, in jest, or trolling, but it sure stirred up the haters.
I think the Rivian nav is awful. So is the trip planning. Streaming music does not work where I live, have resorted to FM only. The issue is maps. Give me Google maps for nav and we won't have a problem. Rivian navigation is far from ideal.
No... they are projecting closer to 5m/kWh...So a 3 row SUV that is going to get ~4 mi/kWh. Smoke and mirrors.

You mad, bro?Yeah I don’t get it. A small vocal minority is so upset that anyone would dare want Apple CP in their Rivian.
It seems irrational to jump on anyone that dares suggest they want a feature on their Rivian. Especially when if you don’t like the feature it would have no impact on you at all.
If people are getting all bent out of shape about something that doesn’t even effect them.. seriously seek counseling to lower your anger level It will lead to a longer happier life.
But if you don’t want to use it you don’t have to so why rail on people for wanting a feature that doesn’t effect you?You mad, bro?
I'm not bent out of shape. I just find it tiring that everybody is so wound up about the absence of ACP in the Rivian. My wife's ID.4 (yeah, the car everybody in this thread seems to hate so much) has Carplay and I just don't think it works very well. I think that lazy carmakers are just letting Apple solve their issues for them rather than crafting their own solution. The result is simply not very well integrated with the vehicle. I much prefer an integrated solution. Even with all of its perceived flaws, I just feel that the Rivian software stack provides a better user experience than the OS within an OS that ACP presents.
And no, I do not want to stop winning about it...![]()
Huh... I made one comment in jest and then you kind of railed on me. I just thought you seemed mad. I have an opinion on carplay that differs from yours (which I tried to explain in the second post). No need to insult. Later. But if you don’t want to use it you don’t have to so why rail on people for wanting a feature that doesn’t effect you? Seriously you sound pathetic.
and why would I be mad…lol
Check your tone then… broHuh... I made one comment in jest and then you kind of railed on me. I just thought you seemed mad. I have an opinion on carplay that differs from yours (which I tried to explain in the second post). No need to insult. Later.
And I would ask the same of you, sir. Have a great day.Check your tone then… bro
LOL
Well, they may be wise letting Apple/Android handle their nav issues because the Rivian nav is pretty bad, my BMW nav is pretty bad and our Honda nav is downright terrible....Carplay and I just don't think it works very well. Yeah... I really like our ID.4 but overall the interface is pretty frustrating. Ours is a '22 and for '24 (I think) they have made some major changes to the controls. More physical buttons instead of capacitive buttons. There is also a major software update in the queue and I have high hopes for it. It seems like VW is learning as they go and I can only assume that the interface in the ID.8 will be more evolved.Well, they may be wise letting Apple/Android handle their nav issues because the Rivian nav is pretty bad, my BMW nav is pretty bad and our Honda nav is downright terrible.
When I had the Bolt (2017-2020) I used AA all the time, I had no complaints about it and it was far better than the manufacturers "solutions" in my Rivian, BMW and Honda vehicles.
