Just got off of my hour and 15 min (45 min scheduled) call. As stated earlier, the purpose of the call was indeed to verify address/ZIP for delivery, configuration, and delivery window.
Very little new information, but I did confirm a few things:
1. The initial vehicles will be built in batches, and the Blue/Black was in that set. Unsure what other combinations are in that set other than one other member having El Cap and black.
2. Color and wheel selection will affect production window. Guides aren't sure by how much, but it will be a consideration.
3. Proximity to a service center was a major factor. They used my billing ZIP, but it differed from my home ZIP. Changing it didn't affect my date, but they did need to verify it.
4. There are only about 16 guides.....
5. The current wheel and tire options are likely the only options that will be offered, i.e. no Dark RIT 20's...
6. Colors should have been finalized about a week ago.
7. Trade-ins facilitated by Rivian must be applied to the purchase price of the vehicle.

All very interesting information. I do wonder if they are just sorting out the color batches and then deciding order later. Any estimate date of when your vehicle might be delivered?

Prox to s service center is also very interesting. Makes me think the delays might be a LOT longer as nothing is really built yet.

Colors finalized as in how?

So changing colors in the past week or so hurts you?

Really surprised you didn't address the timing of your pending delivery... that must have been a huge focus point. Did they ask you to refrain from discussing it?

@Hmp10 I'm sure there's reasons you didn't mention, but why not just whet your appetite for the next 8-12 months by getting a new Ford Mustang Mach-E?
I did think about a Mach-E and have a friend who has ordered one. However, two things put me off. I love the transparent fluidity of Tesla's (almost) one-pedal driving, and the reviewers have said the Mach-E's regenerative braking is very non-linear. Also, the local dealer is slapping a $5K surcharge on the cars he has on the lot. (I haven't really considered trying to source one elsewhere.)

Thanks for sharing! A few questions for you. Did they comment on whether accessories have any impact on timing? Did they give you a month / range of dates on when to expect delivery? Did they tell you when you would be finalizing the actual order, i.e. binding deposit / paperwork?

I am set for mid August to September. This will be nailed down "closer to production"...

No more indicated delays.

Since Rivian Blue is in the first batch, he wanted to make sure I still wanted it. for example, sorry @Mjhirsch78, he said that since yellow was so unpopular that it would put me in a later batch if I opted for it.

He also said that I shouldn't make any changes to my config. I should contact him to make any changes as they may affect delivery timing.

In about a month, we will work through financing (3rd step) and trade in (2nd step).

Is that because they're still staffing up, or is that the planned number?
Should double in the next month. Still not a huge number, though.

Hmmm... Probably not as big a deal as it would first seem. What is a realistic amount of orders that a Guide could juggle at one time? Maybe 30? That would mean all the guides would be working on 480 deliveries at any given time. Am I being optimistic with 30?

Interesting that the earliest deliveries are mid Aug-Sept. What happened to July 1- Aug 15?

Guides will stay with you for the life of the vehicle.

?‍♂. I am happy with the timing as I should be able to test drive and then take delivery shortly after.

Remember that the Guides will be your sole source of contact with Rivian for all issues: orders, financing & insurance questions, trade-ins, delivery issues, features and technical questions, service & repair, etc.

For people who really do get their trucks next month and start needing follow-on support, I wonder how available their guides will really be to them if they're swamped with the next round of reservation holders.
