Typically, when there is minimal risk involved and the responses are anonymous with no way to link an individual to a record, an IRB would not require informed consent.interesting project but where is the IRB approval and/or exception?
However, to conduct human subjects research (HSR) - and surveys are considered HSR - our friend @Mattjw or whoever is leading his MBA course, would have had to submit an IRB application and obtain IRB approval. GIven the nature of the research it would likely have been exempt from full review.
