Hmm.....It seems that someone forgot to tell the Escalade IQ team that as a 2025 model it will (in theory) have a NACS charge port.

I don't think they said anything about model year vehicles, it was actual year.

  • GM will begin to integrate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in new EVs starting in 2025
I expect GM to drag their feet on this as much as they have Ultium in general.

This is a stunning looking vehicle IMHO... but I have a reservation on a Lyriq and GM is a total mess. It is like they want the dealers to fail. The car itself is nice, whisper quiet interior... but I am seeing too many people have too many issues that are yet unresolved. When I test drove the Lyriq about 2 months ago half of the features just flat out don't work and the dealer is surprised each and every time something doesn't function. My wife drove another one and same issues.

I really like it overall except for the fact that it’s HUGE. I know it’s an Escalade, but it’s nearly the same length as an Escalade ESV. That’s hitting “may not fit in my garage” territory.

A standard length Escalade would have been great. But then again, with a $130k starting price, I’m not exactly the target customer for an EV Escalade.

If they make a Chevy/GMC version with a 350 mile range for about $100k, that could be pretty attractive.

All of the current 3-row EVs have small third rows. Suburbans and Escalades have serious room in the third row, and still a lot of storage behind it. If you really need all of that space, it might be the only EV option.

It's 224" long. 2 feet longer than an R1S. The interior is massive.

They very silently dropped UltraCruise (with lidar) that is available on Celestiq. Now just has the SuperCruise+. I guess they didn't want to make it too expensive ;).

Even up until yesterday, the pre-release info touted UltraCruise. Somebody in Marketing didn't read the memo from Engineering.

My guess is Ultracruise isn't even close to being functional yet. Based on video reviews, they still have the LiDAR systems on it, so it should be compatible eventually.

I really don't understand the thought process behind 3-row vehicles without huge amounts of cargo space behind the 3rd row. Why do they even exist?

A 3-row SUV should have 50% MORE space behind the 3rd row than a 2-row SUV has behind the 2nd row. 50% more people means 50% more stuff.

Extra seats are not helpful if you can't also fit the junk the people sitting in those seats want to bring. And if you don't actually plan to use all 3 rows, why would you want a 3-row vehicle?

Yes, I really hope that by the time I am ready to replace my R1S there is a Chevy or GMC version. And I would be very disappointed if it wasn't that big(or bigger).

I have a R1S because I am committed to electric and it is the biggest EV available. But the space behind the 3rd row is inadequate. I can't even fit the stroller behind the 3rd row in the R1S, let alone the stroller + luggage for everyone.

Guess you'd be the market for the long wheelbase model they are revealing next year. Considering the IQ is already basically as long as the ESV, the IQL is going to be quite a boat.

Compared to its overall size the cargo capacity behind the third row of the Escalade IQ will be significantly worse than the Escalade ESV, despite their similar size. In videos that have been posted the aggressive rear roof slope significantly reduces the total cargo space behind the third row.

I can see Rivian launching in the future a R1S-XL 1200hp on the truck chassis which is 217.1" long and only that model in the line-up will offer captain chairs or bench if the customer wants the delete.

Keep R1S as the bench only model option 7 seater.

That would be beautiful consultant move to push everyone who wants captain chairs into a new $120,000 / 1200 hp Rivian versus the $130,000 underpowered slowpoke Escalade IQ.

Escalade IQ will feature up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque with a performance “Velocity Max” mode. In normal driving, the vehicle will still deliver 680 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque.

I don't understand vehicles with 3rd rows that are unusable but 3rd row and low luggage space is fine as an option. I have a Subaru Ascent and the R1S. Typically we vacation travel with the 3rd row down and lots of stuff but it is a nice to have feature when we have a couple extra people. The third row is not meant as a long distance travel seat but an hour or less trip. Best example is going to see my Aunt and Uncle where we have a car load of stuff that we unload at their place put up the third row and go out to eat.

If you need extra storage space get a roof top box the one I have has 22 cubic feet of space and is 7 ft long.

Escalade is for people who don't have the personality for a cYberrTruucK
