I think this post is a misunderstanding of the concept of embracing change. The first step when making any change is to ask yourself "is this change better than what we had before". The answer here is no without a doubt. The shape of the cyber truck might be "artistic", after all people have crapped on the floor and labeled it art before or stapled a banana to the wall and called it art, but as far as practical design it falls short.

From the pictures I've seen this was a better concept than reality. Due to the windshield and roof line you can take a nap on the dashboard but all that space is basically useless. The frunk is tiny because of it, which would actually be useful space. Also I cannot personally stand the center screen only cars. It looks cheap and is less convenient to drive than one with an instrument cluster. I shouldn't have to look right in order to see simple stuff like how fast I'm going. Not to mention that the main screen cannot help but be cluttered because of it.

Next we have the cargo area which again thanks to the crazy sloped roofline you cannot gain access to the bed from the sides more or less at all. If you want to use this thing as a truck say goodbye to standing on a tire and reaching in for stuff. Unless you're an acrobat or a rock climber it's not going to happen. I don't want to have to put on my bouldering shoes every time I need something from the bed of my truck.

Finally we have the stainless steel coating. Stainless is pretty great for lots of things but appearance isn't one of them. Just ask anyone who owned a DeLorian. They will tell you about how it will look hazy any time grease or oil or tar get on it. They will tell you about how it still rusts and how you need to use steel wool to clean it. Also you're going to find out pretty quick about what scratches are going to look like. Sure the steel is thick and strong but unless you're going to wrap it give it a couple years and it will look like hammered dog shit.

I'm not at all afraid of the cyber truck and the reality is that unless the specs and pricing are class leading it will become nothing more than a curiosity for collectors and fanboys. Just because people don't like something doesn't mean they are afraid of change. When that change causes something to be worse than the solutions available currently it's smart to not want to make it.
TBD, but think Frunk less deep b/c front air suspension is huge. How is air suspension on R1T/S? R1S is not great. Can R1T rear air suspension lower to what was shown on CT (ie drive vehicle onto from back and easier access sides). Do we know if there is storage in sides?

"Stainless steel coating" - do u think this is same SS as DeLorean? Or is it same brand new custom (the 'X" in 30X) that is used on SpaceX rockets? You also believe rockets could not take off and land in remote drone ship in ocean and be re-used multiple times? Guessing SS must be pretty good to go to outer space and back multiple times, probably similar stress to parking lots, construction sites and backwoods.

Obviously u r not a fan of CT and that is fine, but you were off on some of your assumptions above.

How difficult will it be to keep the stainless steel panels looking nice?
You should see our fridge door after my son has made himself a PB&J sandwich!
I see a lot of wraps in the CT future.
SS on your fridge probably little different from 30X SS SpaceX uses on spacecraft - multiple launches.

sorry for a basic question but what grade ss is being used? I read where qlon said "300 series" and the crowd went crazy but even that isn't very specific. which alloy in the 300 series?

I doubt they give a shit if their rocket ship has scratched or hazy steel or light surface rust. If you don't care about that with your CT then more power to you

The type of people buying the cyber truck I bet pop their collars, wear neon-rimmed sunglasses, call each other "bro" have blonde highlights, and have "Miami Vice" soundtrack blaring.

I find it rather ugly......maybe in a few years it will grow on me. When the TESLA's came out I thought they were cool looking and I wanted one. Now, everyone and their brother has one and they look boring.
Glad I kept my espadrille shoes, pastel pink blazer and cybertruck revervation ROFL!

I don't think Tesla has shared exactly what it is. I believe it's a 304L with a higher than standard chromium content, but that's just piecing speculation together.

I have a R1T and have a reservation on the cybertruck #780,000 so would be years before getting it. I as do millions of other folks just do not agree with the ugly notion, I see it as an aerodynamic work of art. Many feel the rivian headlight are ugly too, I don't. People are just uncomfortable with too much change too rapidly. On this forum when I see folks bashing the cybertruck it is almost seems as if they are fearful that the cybertruck specs may be so incredible that they think it as ugly to justify going with another brand. I personally would welcome a truck that is not so delicate that I have to overthink where I park (my rivian) as to prevent door dings etc.. it might be a welcome change to be incased in rocketship grade stainless steel. To each there own.
Could not agree more! We love our R1T, but I have an early reservation for a Cybertruck. Just waiting on the specs & price to see. We may end up having both. Tech/spec-wise, the Cybertruck will almost certainly be far ahead of the current R1T. Remember most of the design/engineering of the current R1T was done in 2016-2018. Cybertruck with have an 800+ (maybe 1000v) battery pack, 48 v electrical system, 4 wheel steering, this list will go on. How much of this is relevant, we will see and I for one am anxiously awaiting a September reveal.

SS is Tesla's secret sauce. As others have stated, Tesla developed its own SS recipe and has not shared it publicly.

Pretty much this. Until we get final specs and prices, it's just a weirdly shaped truck. It may be a technological masterpiece... or not. I doubt that it will live up to the hype, but it may still be very cool. I am most curious about the weight, and efficiency.

My guess is that Tesla will be very aggressive with pricing and undercut everyone. They clearly want to drive big volumes and that won't happen if truck costs $90k+.

We are probably a couple months away from reveal, nearly 4 years after it was first announced...

I imagine there will be some in the auto industry buying a Cybertruck to melt the thing down to discover what the compositions are.

That is totally against their normal rollouts. They always start with top of the line fully loaded configurations.

I will be very surprised if the first ones out are not over 110k.

They will probably have some lower priced specs announced but you will not see them until 2025 if ever.
