I have AT3 Wildpeaks on my other vehicle, and found them better in every condition than my previous BFG AT's.

Deciding right now if I'll continue with another set of Pirelli's or swap off for the Falkens when the time comes.

This is the EXACT setup I just ordered from @EV Sportline as a complete package (mounted, balanced, tpms) as a set of 5 for our soon-to-be-delivered blue R1S and I’m STOKED to see your pictures of how good they look!! They look awesome! I asked the Boise SC if they could change my mobile app & vehicle settings to show & calibrate range for the 20” dark AT’s and they said it shouldn’t be a problem when I get delivery in a few weeks.

I already called Discount Tire to see what it would cost to bring in the new set and verify each tire’s balance before throwing them on the vehicle, and they said they’ll do it for free!! They’ll even do my 5-tire rotations for free! I asked why they would do this, and they simply said, “please give us the opportunity when it comes time to replace these tires.” - SOLD!!!

Yeah, so if you're only putting them on for a weekend I think you'd be fine to keep you system software set to 21s.

Ultimately the benefit of switching the software really comes in when you need the accurate range estimates, and you want your car to have the correct info.

I'm not sure what short-term benefits it has, all of the ones seem like long-term.

Essentially tho, yes, the guy had a laptop and had to physically touch the car to do it.

I hope one day they'll make the process easier tho for a uas case like yours. I wish the tpms could trigger something like that, however they read normally when it was set to 21"s
The speedo could be off too - the outside diameter of the tires may not be identical.

Amazing that Rivian made changing wheel/tire size a service setting rather than end user setting. Why would they do this?! All of the vehicles I have owned in the past have this as a user setting.

Glad I stumbled on this thread as I am used to having two sets of wheels, one for summer and one for winte - I am now leaning towards the 20" wheel option!

They have been absolutely great! I will most likely work with them in the future for all my tire needs as they're down the street and rivian has a contract with them. They have custom pucks I believe to assist with it and have a lot more knowledge then other tire places.

Get excited, it is absolutely awesome, I am loving the look of them!

That's really intriguing I had no clue speed/diameter could cause it. It is weird someone has to come out and do it. For some reason I was expecting when they refreshed the system it would reset everything, but to my surprise it didn't! After about 100 miles yesterday the trip planning perfectly estimated the arrival mileage which was pretty cool considering they aren't factory.

I was told by my Rivian Guide that a Rivian Service Center would not recalibrate aftermarket rims and tires. Did something change? Will they recalibrate now without any issues to the owner? -
Thanks

Ugh, this varies by locations and whoever / whatever the local Rivian guide wants to do - which we are seeing is highly inconsistent between locations. Rivian is acting on a slippery slope of trying to deny customers with aftermarket parts - which won't end well for Rivian; federal law prohibits such acts (Magnuson Moss Warranty Act).

A couple TPMS facts:

1 - There should be no 'recalibration' needed by Rivian. Swap in new TPMS (FYI sell both Rivian branded TPMS and our own aftermarket TPMS (exact same sensor from the manufacturer who makes the Rivian TPMS, minus the Rivian logo, and we spec a black valve stem and nut - because it looks better!) - neither TPMS requires Rivian to do anything). Just install, and drive - The TPMS auto connect (eventually) and you're done.

2 - That said, be patient! It varies how long you need to drive to get them to connect. This is true for both Rivian TPMS and our aftermarket TPMS. This is normal and not unusual, nor exclusively a Rivian thing. Same sort of connection lag with Tesla, and all other cars. A lot of confusion with customers on this topic....you could drive 2 ft and have them connect - or drive 25+ miles and they haven't connected yet. The nature of TPMS is 'intermittent' communications by design; this is so the internal TPMS batteries last indefinitely - plus, tire pressures are typically slow to change; it is not necessary to have 'constant and instant' tire pressure monitoring. But sometime, they are slow to connect.

3 - What I have found: Drive for over 20 minutes, at highway speeds if possible. This 'typically' works. However, sometimes it hasn't. I have driven home, no connection. Then the next morning I start up and they connect. Sometimes it has take a couple days of driving back and forth to work. Every time, they connected eventually.

Let me know if I can help!

This may not still be entirely accurate if we're talking strictly visually--your photo of the silver versus black, that is.

My 5th wheel (just ordered and installed the spare 21" from the Gear Shop--protip: don't) has a black stem and black cap... which if you're attention to detail is high is going to annoy you when you have 1 tire with black hardware and 3 tires with the silver....(installed 80% of the time, as I'm doing 5 tire rotations)

ha yes, this can happen too. For instance, we buy Rivian replacement body bolts direct from Rivian. Typically a TP55 head. All of a sudden, we got some with T55 heads! Totally unexplainable, but somewhere in the supply chain a switch (or a mistake) was made! ha ha. Same exact sku, different head. Gotta love auto parts!

This is my plan, I have 22's right now and when I get 20's I'll either go 275/60 or 265/60 tires to keep the speedometer within <1%

For what it's worth, brought them back to discount tire to recalibrate - no issues, they found where it wasn't calibrated correctly and have already fixed it. Pretty impressed! Highly reccomend.

...well I personally think that Rivian logo INSIDE my tire is an easter egg that's worth at least a few hundred bucks! *tongue planted FIRMLY in cheek*

or 275/50-22s - some good winter tire options in 22" (Michelin and others).

That's what I did...I went with 275/60/20 Wildpeak AT3W's on my R1S with aftermarket wheels. I came from 22s as well, so no correction/recalibration needed.
