The Count maintains multiple properties and has emergency radios for each as well as his vehicles. He hopes Rivian adds AM radio function -- whether mandated or not -- as what more of a melodious sounds is there than the static of a thunderstorm. He often drives hours listening to nothing but the endemic static of amplitude modulation radio frequencies.

His real joy, as so many people are aware, is to listen to single-side band modulation from an adjacent citizen band channel.

Life's best joys are the simple ones.

What station was it supposed to be on? Most AM stations have migrated to FM now. Some do both.
I think 810, supposedly there was a fm station broadcasting but turned it on and got Taylor swift. I settled for Alexa score updates on the ride home

That's a pretty good idea. They could make each camp speaker to include weather band radio or AM radio.
That would at least give the Camp speaker have SOME value. I haven't removed it from the dock. And personally, I find it annoying when people feel it necessary to play THEIR music in public for all to hear. Would be SUPER annoying at a campground where you are supposed to be enjoying nature.

For emergencies, I have a crank powered radio at the ready. Was pretty cheap on Amazon --- about $20.

Was Taylor Swift calling the game? I hear she's pretty talented:lipssealed:

It looks like 710 AM also airs on 97.2 FM HD2, so if you went to he main 97.2 it (HD 1) probably had their usual music content playing.

You can also listen to some stations through their app or even through TuneIn or IHeartRadio

I haven't tried mine either. It's probably the only part of the truck I haven't messed with at all. Agree 100% on the public usage. Even if someone was playing music I liked I would still be annoyed because they didn't give me a choice.

AM reception is better in the mountains. It should be standard.

The chip that NOAA implanted in your brain at birth will tell you to turn on your radio.
If we have an invasion or any kind of national emergency, we’ll all know about it long before the lying, crooked whores in Washington.

I'm curious about something. How am I supposed to know that there is a national emergency broadcast and that i should run out to my car and turn on the AM radio?

I certainly carries better than FM... I pick up Boston AM stations from Long Island at night on simple 1960's era six-transistor radios that cost $5 back in the day. Nice thing about those old AM radios, they had discrete components (like electrolytic capacitors) that can be replaced to bring those 60+ year old devices back to life good as new.

Interestingly, the i3 has a built in AM radio, but it was disabled by default by BMW at the factory in all the i3's so no one even knew the hardware for AM was actually already in the vehicle.
Once Bimmercode (software for tweaking hidden BMW vehicle features via the ODBII port) was released, you could re-enable the AM radio and use it with even presets working. FWIW- it works really well without static when the car isn't moving. Perfectly fine for listening while sitting in a parking lot, etc.. As soon as the electric motor starts spinning... lots of static to the point of being unusable.
When will we see Rivncode released?

Like someone mentioned, *most* AM radio stations are now simulcast on FM as well. I used to be a major AM radio listener but now only 1 of my stations isn't simulcasting in FM; so, I listen to the only AM weekly program (You Auto Know) via the TuneIn app on the infotainment system.

Otherwise, if Rivian really wanted to provide AM radio support, then the *simple* solution would be to swap out that mediocre rechargeable portable Bluetooth speaker which I'll NEVER use for a AM/FM/weather/emergency rechargeable portable radio.
