Very interesting vehicle indeed...

When I checked the Fisker site this morning, it seems the reservation for the Alaska has dropped from $1,000 to only $250 now (and only $100 for a second Alaska).. so I took the plunge and reserved :)

My primary concern is towing our 20' boat which is 3,500lbs including the trailer. We already know that the Ocean Extreme and Ultra's can tow 4,000lbs and many are expecting the Alaska to be rated to tow 4,500lbs or higher which would be great.

Some very innovative features in the Alaska and it's not huge like the other EV pickups on the market... really happy to see this one coming!

Love this feature.. "a "Houdini partition" behind the rear seats that can be raised or lowered electronically and protected by a flip-up panel. That allows the bed to be expanded from 4.5 to 7.5 feet, and with the liftgate dropped and rear seats lowered, you can get up to 9.2 feet of space"

Its a shame the towing is so low on it. That makes it a non starter for my uses.

That's a really nice looking little truck with some great features. If Fisker can meet the price points and production goals, they will sell a bunch of them.

I reserved early August and it was only $250.
When I had checked earlier in the year.. I believe the res was $1K and that prevented me from reserving it at that time... but, I could be mistaken?

Really hope this truck is produced as advertised...

I guess we'll have to see... even the Ocean will cover my needs, but who knows... they may surprise us with more then 4,500lbs as some have suggested. Whatever the case, it's never going to approach the R1 series tow rating as they are completely different class vehicles.

I was looking at the traction battery rating of the Ocean which is 113kWh for the "large" pack.. and it's EPA range of 360mi.. that gives us a rough estimate of 3.2mi/kWh efficiency for the Ocean. Given the Alaska is going to be built on the Ocean frame but slightly stretched out.. .I would expect the Alaska to have close to 3mi/kWh efficiency as well :)

Pass. Fisker is owned by a Chinese holding company. I would put my $ in an American EV company.
I think you're confusing the Fisker Automotive, which bankrupted and was bought out of receivership by a Chinese holding company who is making the current Karma.

The Fisker Inc., who designed Ocean, Alaska, Pear, and Ronin is a publicly traded US company who outsources manufacturing of their vehicles to Magna (for Ocean and probably Alaska since they share the same platform) in Austria, and Foxconn (for Pear) plant in US (the same Foxconn that makes most of iPhones and PCs, but they are getting into EVs).

That's not accurate, although it is confusing. The original Fisker Automotive's assets were retained by Wanxiang Group, which then renamed itself Karma Automotive. Henrik Fisker had kept the logos and trademarks, and called his new company Fisker Inc., which uses Magna to make the vehicles we are talking about here. Karma Automotive released the Revero, which is just a renamed Fisker Karma.

I stand corrected. I thought they were one in the same.

I reserved an alaska as it would serve my needs better than my current R1t as I only tow 2000 pounds and would likely be more nimble for the city driving I do but will have to wait to see final specs.

That Alaska appears to be a really nice truck and the price points are attractive. It would not cut it for me to pull the Airstream though. I need the R1T's 1711# of payload and its 908 lb-ft of torque. The Airstream weighs out at 7300# with a 900# tongue weight.

I think of it more as an equal to the electric Maverick that doesn’t [yet] exist. It shares platform with the Ocean, which is a soft-roader. I have doubts about Fisker’s ability to deliver. Yes, it is further along in their growth than many other EV startups (some much older, like FF). However, several months after announcing start if delivery, I have only seen just one on SoCal roads. If you are from around here, you know this is where you’re more likely to see a brand new production offering on the roads than anywhere else. They have a tentative agreement with Foxconn. But that raises more questions. Foxconn has almost no experience building cars. Cars are more complex to assemble than smartphones. And have they even broken ground in Ohio? Lastly, if you think Rivian’s service backlog is bad… I think it will take many years for Fisker anything to be a viable purchase.

They don't have to break ground for new factory. Like Rivian, they have taken over an existing plant. Foxconn now owns GM’s former Lordstown factory in Ohio, a facility that is capable of cranking out 330,000 vehicles a year at full capacity.

Agree that cars are more complex than smartphones and PCs, but EVs are essentially laptops with drivetrain and coachwork.
