… From everything that I’ve read here, the issues are many and massive!
Keep in mind this is an online forum, any forum I have read seems to be shaded 90/10 negative/positive. People are less likely to post about positive experiences but need to vent and tend to exaggerate the negative experiences. When reading forums we all need to keep that in mind so we have a proper perspective.

I’ve purchased many new cars over my lifetime, for me my Rivian experience is pretty much right in the middle, I’ve had 2 minor issues that did not impact my ability to use the vehicle and were both addressed (a module causing OTAs to fail and a slow leak in the suspension where a side would drop over night).

I can assure you if the picture was anywhere near what we read on the forum Rivian would not be selling vehicles at any price.

Btw, there was a dude here with a skull emoji who said some truly offensive things. I can’t find that post anymore, he probably deleted it like the coward that he/she is, but just in case they are still lurking here:?

I love your post and your positivity, but if you had my experience I guarantee you would be worried for the state of the company.
I am not in Kansas, I am in Silicon Valley. If anyone should care about their customer experience in a place like this, it should be Rivian, however they clearly do not!

Seriously? Why wouldn’t I be surprised, that’s not only my reference point personally, but literally every other ICE vehicle in the same price range has those things I mentioned (which is why I mentioned them).

Why do folks like you continue to be apologists for not getting what you actually should have had for the money you spent? Either you are Rivian employees in disguise, or you are so brainwashed you actually don’t realize what you can actually get for the same amount of money!!
Do you actually realise a BEV equivalent from BMW or Range would be at least double the price of the R1S????

Stupid argument about spending $X and expecting certain features.

You are perpetuating a stereotype that is literally decades old! I am going on 5 years and 45k miles with this X7 and have had precisely zero issues. Before that I had a RR which also had zero issues in 5 years. Before that I had an X5 which did have a few small issues but all covered under warranty.

Ask yourself how that honestly compares to how many issues you’ve had with your own Rivian in the short amount of time you’ve had it. From everything that I’ve read here, the issues are many and massive!
Latest bmw x5 was 2018. Got rid of it as soon as it starting fitting the pattern of breaking down, starting with the engine spark plugs misfiring.

I’ve had some panel gaps and rattles that needed to be addressed in my R1T. That’s it.

edit: I’m in Redwood City. And my service experience with Rivian has been wonderful. My service experience at Peter Pan BMW was basic.

My test drive was also good. I drove it on sport mode on purpose and it felt awesome. I am very sensitive to bumpy rides (bad back) and the only thing I paid attention to was ride quality. I didn’t care about anything else, space, audio quality, software, etc
Umm, mark this one as being not a real review….lmao!! “I drove it on soort mode on purpose…”. ?

We all are going to have or own biases in our cars. Now I just got my R1s but ordered before the price increase. My wife drives a 2020 gle450 that was a few grand cheaper at close to 76k. My r1s ended up at 82k. The MB has a richer fit and finish inside but the R1s blows that car away in everything else, ride, handling, responsiveness, acceleration and just not laggy. MB has this lag in everything they do. It’s small but it annoys the hell out of me. No lag in the rivian at all. I love how you don’t even need to hit the break to go from rev to forward. I can compare it to a LR and I did not pay 100k for it. But I love my R1s more every day.

Pretty rude man. Yes, I have read lots of this thread and you've become increasingly rude and hostile as it has gone on.

You have compared the R1S (a BEV) to an X7, a Range, Porsche Cayenne (all ICEs).

There is no comparable BEV from BMW, Range or Porsche yet. BMW iX is around $120k and is not at all comparable in size. My point is when they come they’ll be twice the price and yes for that you’ll get lots of extra features.

If you feel so abused, why do you keep posting about a car you are not going to purchase? I just don’t get it. Just leave and be happy that you didn’t buy it, but to keep this thread going on your part is way to obsessive.

Like I mentioned in the review, it was not. I specifically asked my guide to cycle through sport and comfort so I could feel the difference. I didn’t touch a button, the guide did everything and I confirmed what it said on the display. The ride sucked, but again my suck might be your great. Car and Driver aren’t novices either and clearly they also noticed a stark difference between the R1T and R1S.
It certainly possible that “your suck is my great””. It’s also possible that you were in a Lemon of a Rivian. All of that being said, I’ve driven and owned many cars, and so have a pretty wide range of driving experiences over many years. I won’t say the Rivian is the best driving car I’ve ever been in, but it drives much better than just about anything and its size class and many smaller cars as well. Extremely smooth riding.

100% agree. Not to mention the maintenance and the gas consumption.. the price exponentially goes up. These luxury SUVs are typically used only for short distances and are sold off with low mileages. The second buyer gets a good deal but after 5 years it depreciates like crazy
