Regardless of any variables, our Rivians not only look better (in general and in functionality during the climb) - but it is clear the software engineers spent a lot of time actually understanding what 'off road' really means.

Then again, maybe Elon was just banking on driving the thing on a different planet, where gravity is less applicable.

I very much dislike the CTs styling as well, but honestly? Competition is good (in before "HARHARHAR, this ugly thing is NOT a competitor to Rivian"). Fine, but the more EVs (in general) on the road, the better for all of the reasons: 1- Driving innovation 2- increasing demand for infrastructure 3- better for the environment, etc etc etc.
I, for one, look forward to Tesla releasing a real competitor.

As far as innovation? I'm honestly not sure what is innovative on this Cybertruck, but maybe you can tell me. Any of the innovation I have seen out of this vehicle is not something that's going to push the auto industry forward.

Bulletproof doors and glass already exist if you need them. Stainless steel exteriors have already been done. Tesla has already been "gigacasting" on their other vehicles, and other manufacturers are doing it too. A lot of the features have been copied from their competitors.

I'm not arguing one way or another regarding whether or not the CT is innovative. There ARE some elements of the build that are such from a manufaturing perspective, but if you're never building another *thing* like the CT, that may be moot.

I was simply offering that ANY additional players in the space add to the incentive for the industry *as a whole* to continue innovating.

I personally believe it could end up stifling innovation if they can actually hit their original pricing and production targets, and people buy them at those rates. It costs money to innovate if your innovation isn't just pushing hardware features into software. That's capitalism for you though.

IMO the only innovative thing on the Cybertruck is the tonneau cover. And even at that it’s fair to say they stole the idea from Rivian and simply executed it better.

The rest is the result of Elon tripping balls while watching Blade Runner on loop.

Not to me. It's a big fail in my book for blocking the rear window when it is closed. Plus, no one knows if its design doesn't have a major flaw not discovered until it makes it into customers' hands.

Very true. I personally don’t like the design blocking the rear window either. And you are right - it might not work worth a crap once it’s out in the real world. Only time will tell.
