Thanksgiving day accident

Sharing some horrible news - my 3 day old R1S was involved in an accident while parked on thanksgiving day!

I’m not sure the full extent of the damage as this is all fresh and new. I’m really hoping it’s not too bad but let me know what you think.

I filed a claim though my insurance (Mercury) and still waiting for an adjuster to call me. I’ll keep everyone informed of the progress.

Any recommendations to which SF Bay Area Rivian certified collision center I should take it to?

mis-aligned wheel (steering wheel is centered)

From what I can tell, the tie bar is bent and there is some damage on the control arm

Sensor failure and service suspension warning indicator is also showing.

Side door and fender damage. There’s also scuff marks on the rim.

Oof. And it looks like they were going to try to hit-and-run; did the people coming out at least pressure them into sticking around, or did they indeed flee?

Probably totaled. Bent front suspensions are never easy to fix. Good luck.

Was that you and your family who came out and confronted the driver? That sure looks like a drunk or distracted type of mistake. And they sure as hell were about to drive away…I hope their plate # was captured in all of that.

I’m no expert, but that is a bad place to take damage. Nothing cheap down there where the suspension, motors are.

That impact isn’t light at all. Seeing it in the video and then the actual damage almost looks surreal. Lots of additional internal stuff possibly damaged beyond the visual steering components. My guess would also be totaled.

Man so sorry... At least you weren't in it. Seems like the suspension took the brunt of the impact.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry OP. Most important part is nobody was hurt, but I feel for you on the amount of pain you’re probably going to deal with getting it fixed.

I lost my m235 BMW to a similar strike. Took 3 weeks for them to total it but I knew walking up that was pretty likely. Mine was a bit worse but I'd say you'll be borderline with the motor and some twisting. Good luck!
Any damage to the passenger wheel? Mine got tossed into the curb and bounced back.

Yes, it looked like he was trying to drive away. I was in that house where people came out. We got him to stay. He was slurring his words and seemed out of it. Not sure if he was driving under the influence or if it’s because of his old age (close to 80). We called Oakland police department non emergency line but they didn’t show until we left. Wish we stayed longer but if you know Oakland, the police is severely understaffed and they don’t typically show for non medical emergency accidents.

My passenger wheel pushed up against the curb. There might be damage on this side too.

Thank you. I will check them out. I like the fact that the COO owns a Rivian. I’ve also got recommendations to European Collision Center in SF from adjuster friends. Im going to do a bit more research but will probably be between the two.
