I don't think there's any way Rivian are installing the OG tonneau cover; they're not stupid. I'm sure in the many revisions since they had a 2 motor option, but then that's been de-costed back to a working single-motor version. That may, or may not be a good choice, time will tell, but no way this is the same product, it would get them so much bad press.

I've had my truck since August of 2022, put in a ticket for tonneau cover the day it was delivered and still waiting for the call to get it replaced. It still works but I hardly open/close it as I expect it will give out at any time. Looking forward to the new design that I can use.

I've also had my R1T since August 2022 but I have not once seen the tonneau closed as it was delivered non-operational. I'm trading in for an R1S soon. It now looks like I will never see it closed. Oh well.

A few weeks ago, I busted my passenger mirror when backing into the garage. I’m gonna see if I can get them to tack on the tonneau repair when I take it in on the 26th.

Looks completely flat, while the original always bumped up at the joints. Mine is still working, so I wonder if they will retrofit it.

Can you tell if they are the same slats, or if they replaced them as part of it?

if they replaced them, I’m tempted to stand on mine before the replacement to see how strong they are, just to test.

That’s the exact quote I got but the service manager said it may be cheaper. He just quoted the most expensive possibility.

They're not. Some people on here just exist to drive potential customers away. I have the OG tonneau. I've used it for 15 moths straight with no issues. I compared this video to mine in operation. Unless the OP went in and modified the audio, this is quieter. Also, I can't say with 100% certainty its different, but my tonneau appears to overlap a lot more this one. These panels look flush with the panel next to it. With mine, you can definitely see the top of the panel overlapping the one in front of it.

the powered tonneau was $1500 pre-price hike. the last time they had the price up on the website it was $3000. for those who want it retrofitted that like will not include labor costs. so it aint gonna be cheap.
