The Count did not abide (nor was he in need of a DCFC). He assumes the dealership wasn't happy about having to install a 62.5kW and is run by admirably anti-social people.

Have paid a bit over $1.50/kWh charging my live wire at a station that charged by time. Stopped using that station entirely after that.

That's an insane amount of money for a charge.

What's the range of good pricing? I played around with an EA charger up the street and it was .19 90KW, .29/minute 150KW, time based not by the KW. That seems good, but it's been less than a week.

<30 cents as a great rate
30-40 cents as a good rate
40-50 cents as a normal rate
>50 cents as a high rate

These by minute states don’t count, its just ridiculously cheap with a fast charging vehicle like a Rivian.

The highest I ever paid was a Rivian waypoint charger in Prineville OR. It is only 0.01/kWh but if you don’t read the small print there is a $10 connection fee and at 11kW charge rate it would take a long charge to make that a reasonable cost

Yikes.

What's more disappointing is that they probably tell their customers that it's the normal cost and EVs really aren't worth it and to buy their dinosaur mobile instead.

The highest I have paid is $0.66/kWh + $0.99/session fee. That was in San Diego at an EVgo (350kW) and overall looking at past charging sessions at various EVgo and ChargePoint stops around SoCal it has ranged from about $0.45/kWh up to that $0.66 mark. Session fees have ranged from $0 to $1.

That $2/kWh rate seems to be standard at dealerships. The Rivian nav directed me to this station in a Mercedes dealership, but when I got near I looked it up on Chargepoint and was floored by the price. Gas is a lot cheaper. I suspect they're trying to deter the public so they can keep them free for the dealership cars.

Boy, you guys see a lot higher rates than I ever see.

This thread sent me to my various charging apps to compare. My public charging has been mostly through Electrify America, EVGo, ChargePoint, and Rivian. It is rare that I have paid over $0.40/kWh. The highest rate that I have paid is $0.51/kWh for an EA 350 kWh charger in Greenville, SC. The base rate was $0.48/kWh, with the remainder of the cost sales tax. I haven't been back to that charger since the RAN stop opened in Greenville.

The median cost is probably in the low 30s, with several charges below $0.30/kWh.

I'm guessing that power costs on the west coast are a lot higher, which drives up the public charger rates there.

I didn't read the fine print, either. :-(

I'm willing to bet that ChargePoint requires the chargers to be public so the dealerships jack up the prices to keep away the public so they can use it for their vehicles on the lot.

Those are high. Though I'd wager the highest will be this scenario:
~$0.30/kWh + 12 months of forgotten unused EA/Tesla membership fees.
