… what do I do?

I honestly never realized it would be delivered so soon, and I love my R1S despite its quirks and such. I really don’t have a need for another SUV. Plus, I haven’t actually sat in or driven the EV9, and I wouldn’t buy a vehicle without driving it first.

Should I at least entertain them by asking for a test drive and find out the final price after dealer shaft fees? Do I show up in my R1S and cancel the order?

Yes, go in and test drive it and bargain from a position of power. In this case, you don't necessarily need it, you don't necessarily want it, so it's up to the dealer to convince you. Showing up in your R1S will just strengthen your position. When I went to a dealer recently in my R1T they were like, "why do you want our car if you already own that?". They may not think you're serious about buying, but they sure as hell won't think you're not able to afford it.

If you get a good deal and feel good about it, then buy it!

I wouldn't bother but then again I wouldn't have ordered one to begin with. I don't like how much Kia dealers scalped people with their ADMs so it's a principle thing for me.

Given how Kia dealers treat their customers I have a feeling they will not be bothered at all by you refusing it (if that is what you choose to do) because they will just mark it up even more for the next person.

Hence why you must markup your cancellation fee you'll charge them. "Administrative costs to the cancellation have increased with inflation, minimum $5k with 10% processing fee, but we're having a deal today! I'll cancel for just $5k and waive the fee."

Just an idea, if you have a friend interested in making the jump to electric, you can offer to transfer/sell it at cost to them.

Especially if you are somehow getting MSRP (or close to it) based on your preorder... which I'd be (happily for you) shocked at, given Kia dealerships' previous behavior.

Let us know the dealer markup. I have one on order as well but won't pay a penny above MSRP.

That's my policy on any vehicle as well and if everyone did that dealer scalping would end overnight.

Well, I asked them about test driving the vehicle before purchasing, but I haven’t heard back yet. We’ll see what they say.

Curious about their dealer markup as well. Since it doesn’t qualify for the tax rebates, and I preordered the GT trim level, it’s already more expensive than my preorder R1S was!

I can never tell when the The Count is being serious or not. After all, they haven’t come out with a snow plow accessory for it yet.

They are supposed to be so bad; so bad The Count thinks he wants one. Perhaps for the local demolition derby at the God's Country County Fair.
