I purchased the mud guards from TWRAPS. It’s slightly updated now with both sides being Satin instead rough on one side.

https://twraps.com/products/mud-flaps-for-rivian-r1t-r1s

Install was pretty straight forward. There were two screws that ended up being a bit short given now it had to also cover the depth of the mud guard (it leverages existing screws on the car), but I was able to find a larger replacement in my tool box.

One tip not mentioned in the video is to put the air suspension at the highest setting and it makes everything real easy.

I didn’t find a lot of pictures, so I took a few extra ones from different angles if anyone was interested.

I didn’t wash the car from before the install, so you can see how muddy it gets without the mud guards. I’m hoping to eliminate that, including the stuff that spews through the front air vents. The mud guards in the front cover them up.

Thanks for posting - you have reassured me of my decision of buying the larger size. They are a great product for sure.

I had never bothered to compare the shapes/sizes after installing mine once @twraps had the new material in stock

I don’t think the larger size is offered anymore.

Also moderators can you help move this to exterior mods? I placed it in interior mods by accident.

Oh that’s really too bad. Anyone looking to buy - ask if they can cut them for you; highly recommend.

The rear are cut the same size I believe - *but compared to your images they do seem slightly larger (maybe just the mount position?).

Thanks! I ordered them a month or so ago and haven't gotten around to (nagging) my brother to help install. Was it difficult? About how much time is needed? Getting my brother bribe ready.

It’s real easy. The fronts has 4 torx 20 screws to be removed and put back along with the mud guards. The backs are 2 torx 20 screws and 1 torx 25 for each side. The 20s go right back in and in place of the Torx 25 there is a custom bracket that screws onto the guards first then you use two supplied longer Torx 25 screws to screw the bracket on the truck.

Took me less than an hour.

@twraps

Any desire or interest to create streamlined, molded mud flap that integrates with lower body cladding?

All available mud flaps on the market looks like a piece of flat plastic slapped on.

I definitely want to do that one day but not now. The reason is this - we only sell what we make. We don't drop ship or outsource manufacturing. For that reason what we sell is limited by what we can make. I started TWRAPS 2 years ago (having spent the previous 20 years as a software entrepreneur) having no clue whatsoever on how to make physical products...happy to say we've grown quite fast and now we've mastered quite a few technologies and I keep adding more (latest addition is a humongous thermoforming machine which I am yet to utilize). With all of that said - what you are asking for would require an injection molding machine and I am not there yet. I've researched extensively about injection molding and while the machines are not that expensive (~$100k-$200k), the tooling for them costs a small fortune. Something the size of the mud flaps would cost over $100k in tooling only and then there is the issue of storing said tools. For reference, the tooling for these mud flaps would weight several thousand lbs so storage, re-tooling etc is not a trivial task. Given the low volume of this, it's unjustified to invest that amount of money into this product (also forgot to mention - we're entirely self-funded...no banks, no investors and I very much like it to stay that way...but that also means - no reckless spending). So that's the reason I don't anticipate us doing this particular product with injection molder anytime soon. Perhaps one day when both Rivian and TWRAPS have matured more, Rivian is popping millions of vehicles per year and TWRAPS has a ginormous factory where I can store tooling that's the size of the car for each separate product, then I'd do it, but until then you are 100% correct - this is a flat plastic piece. We get ABS sheets and machine them with a CNC to produce this product.

Thanks for the detailed explanation behind this. FWIW, I would also be interested in a more integrated and molded option down the road when it makes sense for you to make that leap.

In the meantime, I just purchased the current TWRAPS jumbo mud flaps, so thanks!

Just a follow-up after a couple of weeks of usage. I would suggest everyone to get the jumbo. When I ordered it I thought I read it was discontinued so I got the regular ones ?.

When I found out they were available I was told I couldn’t return them since I installed them (though hadn’t driven with them yet). Oh well… my loss is your gain!

As you can tell from the pictures below, because the front ones cover the “air flow vent”, it protects the metal painted panels and doors really well, but on the bottom coverage is not quite enough and the bottom trigets sprayed a bit more than I like. I think the jumbo is 1 inch longer so it should help.
