Obviously everyone would have liked the opportunity to go, but it's also obviously a good sign. I'm guessing part of the idea was to use it as a dry run for the test drive events.

Any chance the two you know were able to confirm if there was a glove box? Or if the infotainment worked? In all seriousness, did they happen to have any comments on space, especially the 3rd row of an R1S?

There is no glovebox and this was only for R1T reservation holders.

Not sure I understand all of these questions about EPA rating and crash tests.

It is the vehicle manufacturer that is responsible for doing these tests and supplying the documentation for their results to the proper authority. EPA, Crash test certifications, and safety certifications all have specific tests protocols that they have follow. There is no mystery around any of this and would have been completed awhile ago. It is not like they are waiting for a government agency to do this for them.

There was some talk a while back that Rivian had not yet been certified for the crash test.

When I asked on chat they would not confirm.

I am not aware that the R1T or R1S are actually in production. The last I heard production will not start until September.

The test drive program begins in september. They’ll need cars for that.
