Yep..I couldn’t determine if cohall was the author or just relayed it. I’m hoping, as more and more projects emerge, a straightforward R1T sub solution will pop up

Just relaying it. Somebody posted to Facebook but it wasn’t me. I’ll see if I can find the post.

Where will you put your spare when off roading in your adventure vehicle?
Hitch-mount carrier. Or strapped to roof mounted platform. Or you’re baller and solve problems by making phone calls. Or you only crawl malls to avoid flats?

Window shattering, roof thumping bass is infinitely more important than needing a spare In an Adventure vehicle. ?
Well, not all sub projects is for “window shattering, roof thumping bass”. A quality sub setup rounds out the lower-midrange voice very nicely and improves the overall dynamic range. I spent years in IASCA sanctioned car audio competition, and know something about this topic. I’m guessing you were a bit tongue-in-cheek. The people who want to rattle windows, also hold their Glocks sideways! Haha!

Percentage of Rivian owners that take their vehicle off road: 2%

Percentege of Rivian owners that listen to the sub par stereo: 100%

This guy has the right idea.
I'm a proud 2%er and IMO the factory sub reproduces bass the way the music was recorded for most genres. Not a fan of roof flexing bass, but to each his own. But I guess it's useful for this:

A bit tongue in cheek, yes. But over emphasized bass to me is useless. I also know something about this topic. I play in a rock band and have done hundreds performances, setting up and fine tuning our sound system for each and every venue. Too much bass is just that....too much.... and it takes away the ability for your ear to hear mid and upper frequencies.

LOL, but if only that were true. Plenty of "suburban wannabes" who hold their Nintendo Switch sideways drinking a StarBucks do the same thing with their car audio.

Does a spare fit under there to begin with in the S? Thought I read somewhere that a spare doesn't have a designated place in the S...

All interesting choices. I rolled for a while with a full size vertically strapped. Happy to have the compact for that one use case of being stranded and you have to self-service your way out.

I do love the innovation ideas on solving a mediocre sound system.

Agreed sir. If you’ll re-read my several posts on the matter..I’ve never advocated for “too much bass” but support the idea idea of EXACTLY the amount of bass as the artists laid down. There’s lots of dynamic range lost in the DAC process….good subs, properly EQ’d with proper roll offs can return that dynamic range. Good jazz comes to mind. Were on the same page.

My hearing must be shot. My Rivian system sounds fine to me.

Compact spare and jack fit right underneath where the speakers are shown. There is a holder above them that has been removed that holds your air compressor hose and your emergency kit (for those of us who actually do go off road ...).
