The broken Cybertruck is not the only or even the best thing that happened when a bunch of electric vehicles went to King of the Hammers. The Optima Unplugged event was dominated by Rivians, but there were a couple Kias, Lightenings, and plug-in-hybrid Jeeps too!

What really stood out is how amazing this community is. Folks brought and helped install Megawatt Rock Sliders before the drives. We had 5 Thunderbolt Adventure Supply kitchens on hand. Fun and games were had around the evening camp fire. And racing legend Tanner Foust was just as nice as he seems on TV.

Here are a few photos and videos to try and give you the flavor of the event.

They pulled the ReBelle Rally one out the Laguna showroom? I was wondering where it went!

I'm not sure this is actually a good thing. The CyberTruck's success/failure as a truck will probably greatly influence what the world thinks of EV trucks. A poorly performing CyberTruck will reflect badly on all EV trucks.

Maybe, but the Rivians and Lightenings in attendance performed all the same maneuvers as the Cybertrucks, and the biggest issue any of them had was popping the bead of their tire off the rim.

I saw plenty of videos on YT with caked on layers of dust in the cars.
Yeah I know this in the middle of the desert but still it felt like living in the Dune universe or maybe MadMax!!

I see these Rivians have no dust. What sorcery is that?

did it rain? maybe that helped

I see one truck with 22" wheels. Are those the stock tires? How did it hang with the other trucks with 20" wheels or aftermarket?

Red R1T with black 22" wheels is ours and has Continental ATs. Did great on all terrain.
