Rivian R1S 2024
I noticed several posts about the wind noise. I just bought mine (R1S) on Feb 21rst - 2024. My family immediately recognized the cabin wind noise even at speed 60. Have a ticket opened. I am surprised despite so many wind noise complaints, the Rivian failed to test it before delivery. The noise is mostly felt around windshield and roof joint area...

uh, yeah. they don't quality control. they rely on service centers, hence the enormous waits.
For the price point the Rivian wind noise is ridiculous. You are likely to be told they tested it and "it is within spec". The front window design stinks.

In my case, Denver RSC handled this in one day with adjustment of the fascia surrounding the front rooftop glass. Others reported gasket adjustment at the front triangle windows near the side view mirrors. YMMV.

So this improved your wind noise? Do you know what/how they adjusted it so we could potentially DIY?

My wind noise was mostly fixed by checking the door seals. My drivers side was fine but passenger noisy. When I looked at the door seal on passenger side it was not routed the same as drivers. The seal was over the plastic inner door trim in some spots and under in others and the seal looked distorted. The drivers door seal looked good and made no noise so I just corrected the passengers to match and helped a lot with wind noise. I was still getting noise from triangle window on passenger side and plastic trim on outside with rubber seal was not touching window like the drivers. The triangle window has to be replaced by service if this is the case and it fixed the rest of my wind noise.

My R1T has a lot of wind noise. Sometimes pretty turbulent. My wife complains. Rivian SC have kept saying it’s normal. No triangle windows replaced or seals fixed after multiple videos and drives demonstrating noise. Have a R1S loaner while a few other items being addressed, it’s actually much quieter to my surprise, though not devoid of wind noise..

Some wind noise is normal. If you have wind noise, you can isolate where it's coming from by taping over joints with painters tape. Removing sections one by one until your able to hear wind noise again.

That will tell you where it's coming from and you can have service investigate further or try to further isolate the source on your own.

It's really hard to quantify what amount of wind noise is normal vs abnormal. Because of their shape they will have some wind noise at speed.

Mine has a slight whistle at 40-50 mph. 4th day of driving it. Maybe it’s the roof racks? Or a bad seal/misaligned?

They told me that and then called me to say they are running it up the chain. That was two months ago so not sure what chain she was running it up.

The wind noise has benefits. I just drive faster when I don't want to hear what my passenger is saying. It also gives you a sense of adventure with the "wind in your hair" experience.

I am old (61) so I remember the "wing" window old cars had. Cars didn't all come with A/C standard until the 1980s (my 1986 Nissan 200SX didn't have it, but could be added later) and the vehicles had a small window shaped like the Rivian front glass piece. It was so you didn't have to roll the window down to get air movement into the car (besides the vent). Even when the wing was closed it was noisy from the wind. Quite a misstep on Rivian's part to bring back something similar.

There have been posts on the roof rack, wind noise, in fact, one by me. If it is just whistling sound, and you think it is the roof rack, put some tape on the leading edge of the vertical supports. Has helped me and a number of others. Always heard it at 47 mph. Now I don’t. It covers over a vertical seam. I used black tape so that it would match the verticals. Hope that helps. Beyond that I have found my wind noise normal for the size of vehicle.
