Dumb question that I know has been answered before - but if I put 276/60R20 tires on my 20" rims, would I have Rivian set the vehicle to match the 21s so that the speedo and efficiency are displayed accurately?

You don't need to recalibrate if you do that. 275/60/20 on 20" wheels will be almost identical to the diameter of the 21" wheels.

@RivianBowerbird if your truck is calibrated for 20” currently the above answer is incorrect. If your truck is calibrated for 21” the above answer is correct.

I think a lot of people are getting less efficiency than they think if they are at 20" calibration on 60's.

Can someone confirm for me a question about R1S spare tire?

I'm planning on putting on 275-60-R20 tires soon. In an emergency, would it be ok to use the spare tire supplied with the R1S (presumably the OEM size of 275-65-R20)? How many miles could I travel on such tire (thinking if I'm far from a service center)?
I have similar question but I am coming from the 21s on an R1T. If I move to 275/60/R20 tires which I think should be the same diameter as the 21s, does that mean I am okay keeping 1 of my old tires as a spare?

The difference is 0.1 " between the two. You definitely ok .

Difference is 3.3%, Speedo 2 mph off (reading 67 mph when actual is 65) and MPK reading 0.1 higher than actual…minor in my opinion.

If nothing else it’s to make sure the odometer is correct

Someone mentioned Martian wheels as light weight efficient wheels. At 31 pounds, they'll be 5 pounds heavier than the (custom order) 20" wheels I'll be putting on my R1T. Weight of tire is more impactful than weight of the wheel, but it all has impact. The weight of the BFG AT T/A KO2 tires, @ 55 pounds (275/60R20 size) will have a bigger impact on range, compared to the General Grabber HTS60 (at 34 pounds...on the XL 275/60/R20 version). But the wheels I currently have the BFGs on are 35 pounds. So, 90 pounds of unsprung weight, compared to 60 pounds of unsprung weight once I get my new wheels. This will have an impact on energy usage on acceleration and maintaining speed. Will have minimal impact on regeneration.

that’s great, all things being equal, think this could push the MPK up to 2.6 MPK in AP and nearly 3.0 in Conserve…reaching almost 380 miles per charge (lots of assumptions here). Look forward to your MPK reports after you get 600+ miles on them.

Yes, but that's a guess/best case scenario, could be a little less but imagine equal to 20" OEMs. Severe Snow Rated tire (you could bypass chain control under typical conditions, usually roads are closed before they require 4WD vehicles to chain up)...

If you don't need snow rating then the Nitto Ridge Grappler (116T) could also be an option for you...
I think equal to the OEM's is good enough for me. Those Gen Grabber ATX look cooler to me though.

I hardly ever drive thru the Sierra passes where I guess these Snow Tires would help.

But I try to Offroad a bit more and sometimes in snow so will have to think about which feature is more needed.

Will also check the Nitto one. Thanks!!

At 9.6” width the ATX is a better off-road option…Can also look at Bridgestone/Firestone in 275/65 and 285/60 sizes…some solid options between 50# - 53# with widths ranging between 9-10”

285/60 Destination XT being best example:
51#, LT 80 psi tire, 9.9” wide, snow tire, off-road all terrain…

Toyo open country AT3 also worth consideration:
Same as XT but 56# and 9.7” wide

We don't ever use conserve mode unless we are going out of town, which we hardly do. I will try to do both conserve and all purpose mode test as soon as I get to 500 miles on this tires. (still feel a little sticky). Dallas roads are very flat, however, it has been super windy about 15 to 20 mph everyday which not ideal for testing.
I do have a 200 miles trip planning in April to Norman, so definitely will test that as well.
I just got the defender m/s2 on Saturday and am in the Dallas area as well. Maybe have 250-300 miles on them so far. Been hard to judge if better than the 20” AT due to the cold and high winds this week.

Battery temp makes the biggest % difference for me, so if comparing efficiencies, you need to afix a few factors:
-Tire pressure
-battery temp (external temp don't matter none if it's a short test run)
-equal conditions (wet, dry, rain, etc... So long as it's the same for each test you do)
-Route and average speed
-Drive mode/height
-cabin conditions
-carrying weight (less burritos = better efficiency @COdogman )

I'm about to rotate my 2363 ATs, if it
Screw it, for science, I'll swap early and test my 3 275/60R20 setups: AS+3 on stock staples, AS+3 on 2363s, AT3W on 2363s. Give me a couple weeks to squeeze in a couple more ski trips and I'll post results.
What temp for battery is best?
