You can always put AT on the 22s. It completely changes the look. The Continental Terrain Contact AT in the same factory size.

The Rivian is an amazing vehicle. I have the R1S, Quad, Large Adventure package. Rivian has startup issues like 4 months waiting list for service where I live in Socal. I think Tesla had the same issues. The car itself has surpassed my expectations. It is a bummer not having the very reliable and productive Apple Car Play as Alexa in my 4 month ownership is very finicky and right now not even present as it disappeared with the latest update. Otherwise, all good. It will be fine for your commute and actually very comfortable. Please, please dont do 90mph…just asking for trouble. best of luck, JB
Haha, can’t promise I won’t, but certainly not often. Glad to know it is amazing…so many wonderful people here, all of you guys have been very helpful. I’m disappointed with the infotainment also, me and Waze are best friends…but we may have to break up ahah. I can sense this is going to be a fun ownership with Rivian.

If you lower your front window and run your fingers over it, you can feel the two pieces sandwiched together. You can also see the difference with the rear windows which are single pane. This has been introduced since the beginning at Rivian and when the MY was released due to excessive road noise

Net, with that amount of miles a day, the EV will pay for itself fast. That has been our experience. Both our cars are EVs (Mache & R1S). My wife puts 3000miles a month on her mache with shuttling kids to school and practice. Where we live gas is about $5-6per gallon. That works out to be about $800/mth in gas. Since we primarily only charge at home with power cost of 10cent/kwh our monthly electric bill for her driving is $80. That adds up fast and pays for itself! And over that time, only maintence we’ve had on the cars is changing from winter to summer tires!
Net make the jump to EVs!
Wow, that’s a great savings…I pay about $450 a month for gas. I drive about 2,200 miles a month.

As for dual pane glass, I can’t say I’ve ever heard of any vehicles that have that. Weight, cost, and engineering to accommodate don’t line up with most use cases.
I believe the EQS has dual pane glass. Not sure if others do.

22 would definitely be my first pick…but I feel like the 20” AT just suit the look better. It looks perfect with them on in my opinion. And to see that it will still give 307 miles of range while with the AT is great. But, part of me wants the quad!!
Thought you wanted to go 100mph or something (j/k)? The 22s are best for that. 21s for efficiency and 20s for off roading etc. However, it will depend on your driving habits. I have the 20s for the looks and I don't pay much attention to efficiency.

Not a big difference on the price. Get what you want-the quad. You only live once mate!

?‍♂. I’m not en efficiency nut and put these on at 25 miles on the clock.

What I do know is I have 2 Ts with 20”, and S with 20” and an S with these 22”. The S with 22” is more efficient.

Virgin ev owner, good one ?. I have two chargers at work, and one doesn’t work, but I will install a level 2 charger at home.

Great idea, since it is indeed just software, I may just go with DM, since I mostly will be in All Purpose, then whenever they release the option to get the upgrade for performance, I will, for whenever I head to Gatlinburg TN, with the twisties, and to satisfy the childish part of me.

Ah, so AC makes it vary more, nice to know. If the AC and heat are on low fan speed, but decent temp, will that be fine? My cousin still does that nonsense of rolling coal ?.

That was my thinking…what if the power goes out, if the entire city loses power, how would I charge, blah blah(overthinking), which is why I wanted best of both worlds, but realizing everyone’s opinions here (I really thank ALL of you for the great advice), and opinions of phevs when the battery dies, it really makes more sense getting an EV.

Thanks a lot for your response, makes me feel much more confident, and at this point, I may just buy the damn thing. How are the 20s noise though? Are they very intrusive at speed, or just faint? They just suit the overall look.
I had all those same worries. Funny thing though that I never thought of…when the power goes out, so do gas pumps unless they have a generator. Whereas, I can plug my portable charger into a generator and still charge…slowly…but hey, I can still charge. My generator is natural gas, propane and gas, so I have more options if needed. Ultimately, I can always just drive my diesel truck.

AC hasn’t been an issue for me. I was just in Palm Springs and I never had an issue feeling like it was killing the battery. If you are on like 1 or 2, I don’t think that’s going to change much. If you want to feel like you’re inside a refrigerator, yeah, that’s going to cost you! I had the A/C on the entire drive home for 600 miles and I never had an issue getting to every place I would normally stop without the AC on or even when I’m driving my Diesel.

the A/T tires are definitely louder than the 21 or 22 stock options, but it doesn’t bother me. My wife never even notices it, so I would say it’s not that loud. She always used to make comments of my loud diesel with 35’s, so it’s not that bad, just louder than the other options.

Hope this all helps!

I’m going from a BMW M4 to a R1S… I’ve had a bad experience in the past with Rivian delivery but I’m giving them a 3rd to make things right especially with their new XPEL Stealth promo. Since we are on the topic of first time EV buyers anyone else shift from a sports car to one of their vehicles and want to comment on their experience? That’s honestly been my biggest fear forget the range anxiety it’s missing the sound of that engine.

Well, everyone sure did help!! I’d like to announce that I went and drive the R1S once again today to refresh my memory, and it’s such a great vehicle and drives so well. I don’t see what’s wrong with the ride, it was very smooth over large bumps…and it even had the 22’s. No rattles in the demo I drove. The DM power was more than enough, but not as responsive as the quad (guess I’m spoiled). Well…I was so damn impressed, I’m going back Wednesday to order the darn thing. Can’t wait for the EV and Rivian experience, just going to put a massive down payment and be happy. Thanks for even replying to my thread! Didn’t realize you guys were so helpful.

Just curious what’s the reasoning behind this? Just the convenience, costs, both, etc.?
Convenience and cost sum it up for me, but others may have additional reasons....

Why do we say that quality is hit and miss? Is it objective or subjective? I think Rivian has delivered ~70k vehicles. Let’s say few thousands have issues; but aren’t most of the people like me just driving happily without any issues.

Most of us are new to EV, at least I was, it did take sometime to get used to; particularly the suspension in auto mode.

So if OP were to specifically ask me, go for Rivian with L2 charger at home. No Costco gas trips anymore and it is an exciting ride.
