why do you say that?Regen braking doesn’t add any range to city driving. None

Well be able to compare once other EV trucks come outThis the largest and heaviest EV out there. What do you expect?
I drive like I'm on fire and for some reason mine never hit their EPA ratings. Stupid EPA.I will also say. Every car I have owned in the last decade has exceeded its EPA rating in real world driving. Guess it will depend a great deal on ones driving style
I'm not. This is engineering. The vehicle shape cannot defeat physics. The range is fine, but I’m a bit disappointed in the overall efficiency. Sad to see Rivian at the bottom of the efficiency list.
Watch it. People on the Rivian reddit don't like this critical thinking. The range is fine, but I’m a bit disappointed in the overall efficiency. Sad to see Rivian at the bottom of the efficiency list.
This makes sense. I think “extended range” mode should still kick in the other wheels if needed. I’d hate to compromise safety for range. Extended range mode should simply prioritize 2WD (Lower the hight, reduce accelerator power curve, etc).Well, just to make things a little more interesting, I spoke with CS today and they said there was no 2WD Conserve Mode

They almost certainly HAVE optimized the heck out of their battery and motor tech. They’re having to overcome a MUCH less aerodynamic body than anything from Tesla. The aerodynamics are where Tesla excels the most, IMO. Their bodies are designed really well.Watch it. People on the Rivian reddit don't like this critical thinking.
I have yet to see anyone rival Tesla in overall efficiency. I get there are many things that factor into it, but you look at the Rivian with a 135 KW pack - bigger than anything out there - and range isn't anything to brag about. I was really hoping they had optimized the heck out of their battery/motor tech and would have done a bit more with that big of a pack.
Part of me is expecting them to do what Tesla has done - continue to optimize via software. Get a software download to jump it to 330 miles. Tesla has done that many times which is pretty awesome. They almost certainly HAVE optimized the heck out of their battery and motor tech. It’s an off road truck. What did you expect? Just wait for any competitor to actually release a comparable vehicle and then a fair assessment “list” can be discussed. i.e. Ford Explore, Ranger. Or RAM TRX. The F-150 and Hummer are not going to be in the same class either. Maybe the Cibertruck might be.The range is fine, but I’m a bit disappointed in the overall efficiency. Sad to see Rivian at the bottom of the efficiency list.
Nearest EV competitor is a Model X when looking at the R1S. Many pre-order folks considered both these cars. I have an X and am getting a R1S.Why are people comparing the eMPG of the Rivian to Tesla’s models and saying that Rivian’s battery/motor efficiency is to blame for the difference?
That makes zero sense. The R1T is bigger and heavier than any Tesla, has a completely different shape aerodynamically.
This is the same reason why a Toyota Camry is going to have a lot better MPG than a gasoline F-150.
Seems obvious to me, but a lot of people seem to be missing this.
Awesome. Thanks!Rivian is also using the 5 cycle test.
And it appears the nominal battery capacity is 144 kWh (400V * 360Ah)
Official classification is "Part time 4-Wheel Drive".
No voluntary reduction of range is listed.

well, apparently my CS rep cut through the delay the announcement of already announced 2WD and gave me the goods confirming the test was with AWD and 2WD is a conservation mode.Well, just to make things a little more interesting, I spoke with CS today and they said there was no 2WD Conserve Mode

because it doesn’t.why do you say that?
Lol, well that's taking it very literally. You're driving in that example.because it doesn’t.
you drive to the store and back. Regen doesn’t add miles to your meter.
