Im curious what your experience is with customer service and what Rivian will do…or not do for you.

I recently had an order cancelled a day before pickup. Basically there was nothing “she could do” to remove co-registrant from my registration. There’s more to the story. The delivery date was approaching fast and didn’t know my options so we (I begrudgingly) agreed to cancel the order. I was stressed talking on the phone and didn’t know what to do. (With employee discount and 2023 lease discount.)

I really wanted to talk to someone other than my guide. She really wasn’t all that helpful and I hate their customer service pyramid that limits your communication with one person. Whether they have all the answers or not is debatable.

I emailed customer service explaining the situation and hoping to find another solution. You think they would want to try and make something work.

Anyone have experience with their CS over email…if it ever gets responded to or goes anywhere? Thanks for any insight.
Or if this is where I just walk away and rot away in my Jeep wrangler.

To be honest you aren’t sharing enough details about what the issue is, other than they couldn’t remove a co-registrant from your purchase a day before delivery and you not liking their answers.

Are you saying you did not mean to cancel?

If you are on good terms with the co-registrant, you could just take delivery and have the other party sign it over to you.

I cancelled because I didn’t have an option considering the delivery day was the following day.

it was less that the answer was a “no” but more so that when talking with Chase and the DMV their answers differed than Rivians. Which is fine. But also Rivian was blaming it on chase. So there was def some disconnect.

Because it was a lease all of it seemed like it had to be done from Rivian.

Pushing off the delivery date is an option. Co-registrant removal usually is doable. I had it done. But we don't know the extenuating circumstances, if they exist, for why they refused to remove your co-registrant. It sounds like there might have been underlying reasons and it's starting to sound a bit complicated with different parties disagreeing about something.

I would give another call to your guide and say where the challenges are, how you would likely address it, if you were her. You want the car and Rivian wants to sell it. So what is your ideal situation would be and how you want her to handle? You can always come to a middle point or a point very much closer to you.

if you need space, let her know that it was stressful or whatever it was and tell how long you need a space.

I am missing the issue here. Why not take the car and then remove the co-registrant? This happens all the time.

Ok. I’ll take a step back because I was probably a little too hasty and being a bit annoying. It’s not just the push of a button. But - if you are qualified applicant - you can have the lease refinanced etc to reflect just you on the lease. You would need rivian to play ball. Basically they need to be ok with only one person on the hook instead of two.

It could be that they don’t have the bandwidth to do this or just have enough folks lined up that it’s not worth their time. But I have heard of this being done with other manufacturers.

Sorry you are in this pickle. Not fun.

It is a very unique situation. In short I’m a student and my parents are getting (trying at least) me a car. With all previous vehicles my dad has co-signed and stayed off the registration. Rivian is being a bit difficult. And where the miss communication from Rivian, Chase, DMV comes in. Chase and DMV say it’s not required. I basically need him off the registration because insurance in NY is very strict and he won’t be using it as he’s in another state. A pickle for sure lol.

OK, it sounds like you might not qualify for the same lease terms (or any lease) without the co-applicant's credit rating.
