Glad to see only my truck made it in the pictures! Haha. I liked the doors as they felt smoother to me, but that also could be due to another door or window always being open while there. They def have an electric pop out motion now when opening. Love the headlights and a bit jealous after seeing them in person! Oh and got to meet Tony… that was cool.

Good point about all the doors being open and that could make it easier to close. I’ll try to go back and close all the doors open / close just one to see how much difference it makes. I’ll also try to compare the seals on my vehicle to Gen 2.

I do like the gen 1 mechanical inside handle being the primary better though!

The vibration in the pedal are cut by 85% I would say compared to Gen 1.

Stil sounds loud outside with the buzzing noise but I’ll gladly give up some frunk space to relocate it and change it into a heat pump.

You can see the original location.

I’ll take pictures of the frunk tub to show you where they relocated it to.

Thanks so much! These are great! Thanks for sharing
I was able to get much better pictures when everyone was upstairs for the free concert and beer.

Awesome marketing event .

major shoutout to Rivian, All the upside down shareholders ;) and Tony Caravano for putting the work in on the front lines and getting the word out about Rivian in Texas.

I was there today in Austin.

I like the upgraded interior more than I expected. At least it works in black. The materials are nice and mesh well together. I wouldn’t pay for a tri to get it, but I would pay $2000 to upgrade a dual to it.

I love the new light bar. It’s sleek, modern, and sophisticated. It’s the only thing I didn’t like about the exterior styling in the Gen 1. Now everything is perfect to my eyes. This design is going to be timeless.

The new software is fine. Functionally, it seems about the same. I like the new graphics well enough. The LED interior lighting only allows a few colors, which is a little disappointing. The cameras are stunning. I thought the old ones were fine, but I know many will be excited about the new ones being so much better.

The doors are lighter. I don’t like how they closed. It just didn’t feel right for some reason. Hopefully this is just an early model alignment issue and not a design issue. I like the
Interior button to open the door. It’s much more convenient

The frunk is a little smaller. It would still work for me fine, but if something barely fit before, it probably won’t fit now. I like the new frunk bottom better. It’s not as cheap feeling.

I like the aero 22 wheels better in person, but I still am not crazy about them.

I didn’t get to drive it, but a guide did tell me that the ride, steering, and throttle were all incrementally better.

All in all, I think Rivian did a great job with the refresh. They are keeping their flagship up to date, which is good. I don’t see any game changing improvements, but they have made a bunch of incremental ones that add up to make an already amazing vehicle even more compelling.

Panel alignment is much better. Plastic cladding is flush and won’t require adjustments.

Hatch alignment is much better too.

New camera on Mirror removed from Fender cladding.

This will require less rework / adjustments. Better consumer experience and lower warranty costs for Rivian.

One thing I noticed on the Gen1 was the seal was huge and often required a pretty hard slam to get it closed all the way. I wonder if they reduced or changed the seal as well. Interestingly the wading depth of the Gen2 is slightly less than the Gen1. I can't think of what design change outside of the seal might have led to this... Purely speculation on my end though.
Huge shoutout to Rivian for taking feedback on the sharp Halo trim and now they’ve added plastic edge guards.

I see the same depth for crossing water for both generations.

The seals feel different. Not as thick or stiff. This could be why it’s easier to close the new generation doors.

my wife also noticed it takes much less effort to close the doors. Reminds me of the self closing hinges on Infiniti, the doors just want to close much easier now with less effort.

Thanks for these amazing photos and updates! It's as if I'm actually there. All your points support our decision to pivot last minute for the Tri-Motor Ascend. Keep up the good work! ?

Would you say the infotainment is significantly snappier than the ones in our current Gen 1s? If so, do you know if yours was on an optimized loop or something, like the way TV’s are in showrooms?
33 second long video of MidnightRivian trying to stress out the infotainment center.

I believe it’s a beta version of the new release.

Towards the end of the night they locked up the car because they claimed the infotainment was acting up / being glitchy.

I didn’t notice anything like that. The only thing I saw was everyone would right away crank the AC to full and then we would have puddles of water underneath. So they went ahead and locked it up like 1 hour before close.

Folks had 11 hours all day Saturday to test and demo the vehicle inside the showroom and it was chugging along just fine.

only issue I noticed is charge port was stuck open. Someone might have damaged the mechanism.
