Doors are much easier to close and feel lighter. Less premium feel.

Basic sound system is actually decent for the free option.

The 60 FPS for camera is really noticeable and resolution is crisp to the point you can read text.

EC Roof is nice touch but I will would still prefer a real motorized shade.

The 22” Range wheels are growing on me.

Entertainment system is snappy

Ambient lighting options are nice addition.

Hey we made it into one of your pics. ;)

Agree on all counts except the doors - I noticed the difference but thought they were fine. They never had a G Wagen solid thump anyway. My wife however agrees with you and commented immediately on it.

I do like the wheels with the covers. Honestly the wheels are good enough they should have just forged them like that and not had removable covers. The underneath wheel is still bad without the cover.

Do you happen to have a sideways picture of the platform(skateboard)
I can get better pictures this evening.

I plan to get some interior shots of the Gen 2 and I’ll grab a sideways picture of the skateboard.

Great stuff, thanks for sharing.

Interesting about the doors. Hmm... I'm really curious now as I'll admit that I'm bit of a door thunk snob. ?

Unless the door is made using a lighter material (overall), which I doubt, the other more probable reason is it having less noise dampening material inside for cost savings?

I wonder how this effects NVH, but mainly noise isolation?

Would you say the infotainment is significantly snappier than the ones in our current Gen 1s? If so, do you know if yours was on an optimized loop or something, like the way TV’s are in showrooms?

That’s a good point. It didn’t seem like a demo UI. I was able to go into settings and change the ambient settings and play around in the drive mode settings and bring up the gauges. Adjust AC and play with Radio.

The map / navigation was very fluid and smooth / quick to refresh data.

I’ll play around with it more and try to take a video or picture to show the different screens.

It felt like the information like bringing up prompts to search or flipping between tabs was faster. Almost like the difference between a mechanical hard disk and Solid state disk. It refreshes quickly and was snappy.

Reminds me of the S iteration of updates Apple likes to do.

Not enough of a benefit to update for me personally. I’m happy with the performance and would love to see it in the R2. I usually use my Rivian app to plan a route and send it to my car.

Glad you were able to check out the new Rivian space and Gen 2 in person.

The wheels covers are improved and won’t damage the wheels like the original 21” cover does. It still leaves marks but it doesn’t seem like it scratches the wheels like the 21” Aero cover clips did.

I personally like both 21” range / 22” range wheels without covers and would use them without. Probably remove them on day 1.

I am leaning towards a set of 22” Range wheels to go along with my 20” AT, If they will work correctly with our Gen 1 and Rivian will let us reprogram to it.

I’ll go back and test the doors a little more. I heard someone mention the hinge was redesigned to make it easier to open and close. It felt easier and had less of a thump or force required to close compared to Gen 1. The main question would be how does it impact N/V/H.

The panel gap between fender and door was much better. Mine required a couple adjustments to stop it from rubbing. This Gen 2 looks much better from factory.

One thing I noticed on the Gen1 was the seal was huge and often required a pretty hard slam to get it closed all the way. I wonder if they reduced or changed the seal as well. Interestingly the wading depth of the Gen2 is slightly less than the Gen1. I can't think of what design change outside of the seal might have led to this... Purely speculation on my end though.
