As you know, we're transitioning from Gen 1 to Gen 2, so I've been avidly consuming all the articles and videos for our research.

I must say, this recent YouTube video summarizes everything with lots of information packed into just ~12 minutes.

If you have to watch or share just one video to understand what's new for Gen 2, I highly recommend this one:

Check it out and let me know what you think!

I am looking forward to a hands-on cerebral review in 4mins of how these new features translate to practical 1. Off-road adventure vs G1 & 2. Soccer parent vs G1.

I dont personally get anything out of these - he said so, she said so. These are just recap of company messages. Don’t get me wrong, there is value in getting these from Rivian perspective and obviously the reviewers need to amplify it; else people won’t watch these Reviews.

Are folks getting delivered G2s yet? Do we know.

12 minutes won’t cut it if you want to be a YouTube star. A 7 hour live stream that only includes 12 minutes of specific, useful information is the new trend.

Agree, show me the real-world end-users' results—can't wait! I believe folks shopping from the shop should be getting theirs by the end of the month.

Rivian is doing a great job of hyping up their cost cutting improvements; but other than better camera and the roof thingy, I am not buying it; even the talk of powerful computer. Yes you have upgraded; but you absolutely need it in G2. In G1, you had a distributed architecture and systems can fail without overall impacting the other systems. In G2, everything comes to the central computer and as you have moved to hub and spoke model. You need all that power to process and triangulate what’s to be done.

I want somebody to compare G1 and G2.G2 should be better; but by how much in various use cases.

Andru got quite a few things wrong, though.

Not 240kW charging on LFP Standard pack, 200.

"grams of density" makes no sense talking about the new Large/Max packs.

Dual-Large doesn't get any performance increase over Dual-Standard, it's Dual-PERFORMANCE that gets the increase, regardless of pack. It's just that you have to upgrade to at least Large to be able to option Performance.

"a dynamic half shift disconnect optimizes power and efficiency based on the driving motor in" - WTF does that even mean? Seriously, he uses nonexistent words that are *similar* to words from Rivian's press release so often, I'm pretty sure he's just reading the press releasing, and screwing up words. Lots of his talking points definitely aren't things he wrote.

Andru is definitely exactly the kind of YouTuber Rivian wanted to show up to the event - "influencer" who doesn't normally cover cars, and will talk glowingly about it, giving them tons of positive press.

Thanks for the corrections, Professor! Glad you're here to keep the rest of us grounded in reality. Too bad you missed the bigger picture while nitpicking the details. Keep trying harder ?

There are plenty of actually good reviews out there, don't need to promote one full of errors.

any reasons for the unnecessary aggression? I get the anonymity of Internet forums offer opportunities for over the top posturing but running across your posts it seems you attack anyone that disagrees or have an opinion of their own with a level of zeal that feels both unfitting and disrespectful, which as most of us learned in adolescence years isn’t a productive way to have a conversation; especially considering you’re on an auto enthusiasts forum where expression of disparate opinions is kind of the point.

Imagine mistaking passionate debate for aggression—seems like someone missed the memo that forums thrive on lively discussions, not just echo chambers ?

I agree with @waveroamer on this one.

@sirna7, I would enjoy your posts more if you removed what I experience as a contemptuous tone. Can you keep expressing your point of view, while removing the snark? When a thread gets too high a ratio of personal insult to useful information, I usually stop reading it.

We all come from different cultures that handle conflict differently, so none of us knows exactly how our behavior and rhetoric will affect others. I think @waveroamer is trying to help the community here.

Thanks to all!

I pointed out that this video is full of errors.

You responded with snark and aggression as if I had personally attacked you. I was pointing out that the creator of the video had many errors, not that Rivian proper provided those errors. Now, if you happen to be the video creator posting here under a different name, then that would be dishonesty by promoting a video as if you were a disinterested third party, rather than the creator.

Otherwise, don't get all worked up about someone providing legitimate criticism about something you have no stake in.
