I'm on the verge of putting in an order for R1T. The current delivery estimate for my build is showing sep-oct. The problem is I won't be ready to buy until closer to nov-dec.

When I went to the local service center and did a demo drive, the rep told me that's totally doable. He said that at some point closer to production I'll get an email that they are ready for me to confirm my build. At that point if I'm not ready, I can just not confirm and then it'll come back through the queue later.

But when I was looking at the builder online it sort of seems like they're just having you confirm and go with a non-refundable deposit immediately. So is what the rep told me wrong? For Gen 2 did they just make it immediately confirm for build with no reservation process up front?

All I can say is get use to the term Rivian s00n.

Just be flexible with the whole process.

My delivery was on time and everything from start to finish took 1 week.

Yeah, just trying to figure out timing. I'd like to put in the order sooner than later just in case pricing changes or whatever. But I also would hate for it to arrive before I have my finances prepared LOL

So I guess just to be on the safe side... Wait until the estimated window online matches what I'm wanting?

I would personally wait and also keep an eye out on the shop for Gen 2 R1T release.

You can submit your order closer to when the window matches and also keep in touch with guides. Sometimes during end of quarter they will give extra discounts or options to get you to take delivery sooner rather than later.

You can delay but there is no reason to put in the order until you get closer. Your price is not locked in until you confirm your configuration. So pricing can still go up or down even when you have placed a deposit Rivian added that language after the price hike debacle in March of 2022.

So that's the interesting thing... The website doesn't say "reserve" anymore. It says "confirm configuration" right off the bat.

If it says confirm configuration they have you matched to a shop vehicle. When you build you are "confirming your order" and there is text letting you know prices are subject to change. Rivian could do a better job with wording as one could argue they confirmed when they placed the order.

Hmmm that doesn't really make sense for matching a shop build though, as I'm doing a dual large R1T, and Gen 2 R1T isn't available at all in the shop yet.

But regardless, I see that you're talking about with the "pricing can change" thing

**Edit**
I see "confirm order" not "confirm build". Subtle change but it is different. This is why I ask ha ha ha. Thanks for pointing that out

Yes Rivian needs to adjust the wording. I was not completely accurate on the confirm confirmation...for a shop vehicle I don't think you get that until you place the deposit.

To clarify basically the price is not locked until the vehicle is built (or selected from the shop) and then you confirm the configuration which starts the purchase steps.

Here is a another solution that involves the mentality of you only live once.

Put an order in today for the tri-motor R1T which will be available Oct - Nov.

I ordered in 01/2020 and waited and waited. Just before we were going on a one year RV trip, they said your car is ready! Yikes. We were able to delay for 9 months the delivery through our guide but I dont know if there are any more guides? JB

Agreed. That wording is confusing, indeed
