Isn't that Toyota? It's close, and irrelevant, but still.

Impact on SH value? Does this dilute shares?

Details are still trickling out (investor call is at 6pm Eastern), but it almost certainly will dilute existing shares when each of the 2 planned $1B investments are made (2025 and 2026).

However, the benefits / value of the partnership and debt that VW is extending will almost certainly outweigh any dilutive impact given how weighed down the stock has been on survival concerns.

Time will tell, but I expect this will positively impact the stock both short term & long term.

Service at VW shops would be great for us in states that don’t have a Rivian presence.
But I suspect that isn’t in the cards as this seems all software

This could have very interesting ramifications for the future of the Rivian Georgia Facility. VW appears to have only one US manufacturing facility, in Tennessee. This could be part of the "up to additional $4B future investment" statement. That would give VW a strategic entry into a North American EV factory.

They swap places back and forth between #1 and #2 every couple years. The first search result said VW is tops, but I didn't see what year it was from. They're almost certainly either 1 or 2, though.

Hopefully this joint venture will prove successful for everyone involved. Rivian, VW and the customers of the two companies.

And not just another failed joint venture between automotive companies.

This pretty much makes sure Rivian lives on for the foreseeable future.

Scary that we have to think about the viability of the car maker.

Need to remember that Amazon invested a ton too and that stability is long gone.
