Has anyone placed a piece of plywood on the roof carriers to block out the sun? My R1S constantly reaches 125+ degrees inside. I keep reading that tinting the glass roof can create problems.

If you haven't tinted your windshield, I would do that as it will significantly reduce the heat in the vehicle

I have two r1ts both with heat rejection film everywhere but the windshield. Very much worth it.

I have only tinted the side windows so far and use a fold up sun screen for the windshield. If a glass roof tint is not a problem, I would definitely do that.

I added UV tint to windshield at the same time I tinted my side windows and ceramic coated vehicle with a shop. Also added a EVsportsline Roof sunshade which helps but it appears they are not selling it anymore, so probably find one on AMZ. If your question is not joking around, I can think of a few reasons why placing a piece of plywood on your roof is not a good idea. Creating massive drag, creating a potential projectile are a few of the less snarky ones I can think of.

I tinted my windshield and it makes a difference.

Granted I'm in a R1T and not S, but at 110 degrees f so far, so good.

My Land Rover also has a glass roof and the IR rejection on this one seems better.

Plywood is a bit drastic, IMHO. I would put ceramic (ie. Llumer) on ALL the windows including the windshield. I would buy a sunshade. I have done all this except for the sunshade and it has made a difference. I have read that the sunshade makes a big difference as well. I ordered the sunshade from @EVBase but it's taking a loooong time to ship. I am not a fan of the glass roof for a lot of reasons. Heat is one of them.

70 percent ceramic had a huge difference on heat, 20 percent every place else did help but windshield ceramic was a big difference

I read somewhere else that tinting the roof could cause the roof to crack. Is the true?

I read the same, but have not seen any recent postings regarding a cracked roof resulting from applying a tint.

Consider using this automotive insulation. I’ve been thinking about doing it just haven’t gotten around to it. Look for automotive heat insulation similar to this and maybe cover it or line it with something nicer looking.
