I'm without power in Houston at the moment, so I'm running essentials off the truck's 120v outlets. Got to thinking there's no real way to know if you're nearing the 1500 watt limit. I'm sure I'm nowhere near it, but I might opt to run a few more things, and a little power usage indicator would be handy. ?

I have a plug-in style cord separator that I can use my clamp multimeter to measure power draw. Useful to test things around the house and would work great for this too. But an in-app or truck display would be great.

I’ve also wondered how much power the inverter draws just having the plugs powered.

Go to Amazon and search "Watt Meter" and there are lots of inexpensive options - i.e. under $20 that would probably meet your needs.

KillaWatt meter
That's what I use, but the style I have there's no room at the outlet in the bed, so I have to add a small extension, plug in the killawatt, and then plug whatever (power strip) into that. Not entirely ideal.
