What's that?
The rear-view camera frustrates me and grinds my gears. When backing up in my garage, I'd normally like to get as close as possible to the wall to leave as much room as possible in the front. With all other cars of the same size that I've owned, I was able to see the edge of the rear bumper and get as close as ÂĽ inch away from the wall if I really wanted to. However, with the Rivian, it is really hard to tell how far out you are from the wall since the camera does not show the rear bumper. The sonar radars go off, and the camera on the Rivian shows that I'm already in the wall when in reality I still have about 6 inches of space between the car and the wall.

I was wondering if this is something I have to learn to live with or if it can be adjusted mechanically or through a software update.

It would have been nice to see the edge of the rear bumper (marked red) as shown in the picture.

Can you hang a tennis ball on twine so it touches your window at the moment to stop, the old fashioned way?

You won’t be able to change anything with the camera. Perhaps back up to get it in position and then mark the wall with vertical lines that are exactly the height of the camera image. When you park, back up until those lines fill the height of the image. If you use different suspension heights, you might need several different lines.

Good idea, I’ll give it a try, my only dilemma with that option is that I have two boys, 6 and 4, and they play T-ball. I can only imagine where it will be if I look away for a second.

I can’t do that everywhere I go, and I always back in when I park my car. It feels that Rivian got these cameras from temu.com ?

Birds eye view gives a better idea of where you are relative to the wall IMO.
