Gen 2 Premium Sound EQ - Post Your Settings

Maybe they concentrated on the Meridian and Elevation systems first? It’s funny because when I test drove an R1S with the Elevation pre update I remember the center channel not being strong enough ie I felt like my right ear was going deaf

Maybe this is the issue were only the left audio channel is playing and a reset will fix?

EDIT: I did a reset of the infotainment system (hold down far left and far right buttons on steering wheel for ~15 seconds) and it fixed this issue. It also significantly improved the audio quality outside of simply the channel issue. Highly recommend resetting the infotainment system if you have audio issues!

Does anyone have multiple streaming services where they could check the sound quality of the same song but at different quality settings? I think the digital audio compression algorithms have a lot to do with how good a song sounds. I only have Amazon Music and I haven't found a way in my R1 to select different audio quality. It appears to my ears that the default is highest quality available.

But can you chose dolby atmos or normal HD and compare the sound quality on the same song? The post I was responding to was saying that there is inconsistent sound volume from song to song. In the Amazon Music app on my phone, I can choose between four different quality levels and they sound very different though headphones. Dolby Atmos is much quieter than Ultra HD or HD.

I don't know but we can try turning off sorround on audio settings, I'm no audiophile, I can feel sorround sound on atmos audio from Apple music very clearly

I can attest to the sound issue.

I just picked up my R1S Gen2 yesterday. It has the Rivian Premium Audio. I drove it for 1.5 hours back home, and my only complaint was that the audio sounded muffled and unbalanced. It seems like it's only coming from the front middle speaker. At first, I thought the side speakers were off completely but they are in just way too low.

I messed with audio settings and equalizer and no luck just sacrificing one way or another. Logged into Spotify and Apple Music and both music apps suffer from the issue.

I’ve been toggling between Apple Music and Spotify at the highest settings. I don’t bother with atmos because some tracks sound amazing in atmos and other sound terrible. With atmos off, I felt like the sound quality between the two was nominal, until I heard The Killers - When You Were Young. Sounded terrible on Spotify and much better on Apple.

If you are 60+ years old or a rocker, it is unlikely that you'll hear anything at the 8K and 16K frequencies.

Just be happy that you got the premium sound system--I have a Gen2 R1S with the base sound and the whole system makes your ears want to pop. It's worse than the stereo in my bronco, and that's saying something. I basically don't listen to music anymore at all driving unless my kids are dying for a Bluey song, it's that bad.

I also have a Model Y and it's night and day. Same thing with the old R1T launch edition--now that sound system rocked.

For road trips I am planning on just bringing a portable speaker.

Really hope Rivian continues to improve and tweak this sound system. The speakers and power are all there it’s just not balanced correctly. Really puts a damper on what is otherwise an excellent vehicle.

There’s cause to hope. 2024.27.01 dramatically improved my Gen 1 R1S Elevation system. I just posted acoustic measurements, an high-level analysis of Rivian’s Atmos implementation, and recommendations for improving stereo and Atmos tracks further with EQ.

Read thru the whole post and cannot wait to try out your recommendations tomorrow morning on the Gen 2. I find it funny how different your EQ looks to mine which I’ve been obsessively tuning for the last two weeks

Gen 2 Rivian Premium and the Gen 1 Elevation don’t sound the same. I’ve heard from both, so I wouldn’t expect the EQ to be the same either.

I really think the Gen 2 audio will be fine tuned in future updates
