They made it through the list of people who wanted one, now they can't give the CT away. The sales are going to be similar to the model X or less because people don't want to drive an eyesore.
Please back your claim with a verifiable data.

100% on this. Maybe by next summer, we will be able to draw some conclusions.

However, the caveat is when/if the CT AWD dual gets the $7500 tax credit. That is a chunk of money off. Supposedly it the the battery cathode that is causing the issue. Lot of variations of the 4680 showing up tho and are supposed to meet the IRA requirements.
The credit may help a few buyers, but 80% of EVs today are now being leased. Rivian offers really attractive lease rates, and leasing gets you the $7500 credit. Just look at the Model X vs R1S.

Model X: $1099/month with $7500 down
Rivian R1S: $675/month with $7500 down

So if Tesla offers poor lease rates for the Cybertruck, that could really hurt sales relative to Rivian and Ford.

Long story, but I sold my R1S QM when we got the CT Foundation Series invite. Wife really wanted a CyberTruck and I liked the weirdness of it. But the more we looked, the less I liked. After the initial reviews hit the street, and I said "no." I went back to Rivian and bought an R1T DM.

Fast forward six months and my wife got a chance to spend an afternoon in a CT and hated it. (Expensive bullet dodged.) We are very happy with the R1T. For our needs, it is the perfect blend of utility and comfort and practicality. I just wish Driver+ did not suck. Otherwise, it is the perfect vehicle.
You are absolutely clueless about what you’re talking about. The only reason you should prefer the R1T is if you want a smaller truck, cannot adapt to the unusual appearance or driving characteristics of the CT, or prefer the lower price point.

The CT has a smaller turn radius, 800 V architecture, FSD, bigger interior, bigger bed, power tonneau, and a more durable exterior finish.

I have 30k+ miles on my T and 15k on my CT. I would not choose the R1T for most reasons other than maybe towing or solo camping. And even then if it’s a long drive the FSD is about 20X better than Driver+.

The R1 is now stuck in a weird place where it’s very expensive, doesn’t quite have the specs to match its competitors in terms of utility, and a bad reputation for production irregularities. Like my doors still don’t close like they should on my T but they are fine on the S. And I’ve had all of them in to service more times than I care to remember.

I wanted to buy a truck for my hobby farm. I was about to pull the trigger on FS, but I couldn't fathom spending $100K. I canceled FS (lost 1K deposit) and purchased a fully loaded 2023 R1T that only had 14K miles. The previous owner took excellent care of it. I got the full-service record history from Rivian after the ownership transfer. It's in Mint condition. I paid $62K for a $100K vehicle that's almost as new. I'm glad I didn't drink the Cybertruck Kool-Aid. I'm used to driving performance sports cars. I'm not missing my Porsche at all. R1T cornering is way better than CT or even Porsche. The suspension could be improved - I'll get this double-checked with Rivian for my peace of mind. Steer by Wire might give CT an edge, but who cares when I can do 0-60 in 3.5 secs and have 410 miles range and tow 11,000 lbs. The best part - the kid loves it so much. Access to the bed through the gear tunnel makes it so entertaining for the kids. My red R1T is officially named Clifford. I don't think CT would have brought this much joy and also saved me money. Now I can use this money to buy a nice John Deere Tractor! Unless I see any major red flags in the future, I'm keeping my Clifford for several years.

Let all those FS buyers enjoy their CT. I'll buy one from them after it depreciates 40% in a year or so! ?
Dude you are drunk on Rivian Kool Aid. I have 3 Rivian and a CT. You have no idea what you’re talking about. I have over 45k miles on Rivians and 15k on the CT. The R1T is inferior in nearly every way.

Not sure how someone supposedly so informed about Tesla sales could possibly have not seen this.
Waiting to hear his spin on this article!
A. TorqueNews is an unreliable source.
B. TorqueNews is anti-Musk.
C. TorqueNews does not understand the data.
D. All of the above.

I think you are the only one who is clueless, as well as rude, arrogant, and suffering from a reading comprehension deficit.

I merely wrote that, "my wife got a chance to spend an afternoon in a CT and hated it." I did not write that you should hate it or that it was an inferior product on every dimension. I merely said that we are very glad we bought a Rivian (I would never consider trading it for a CT, which I could do next week given the high number of CTs in inventory at the moment). We have more than a dozen reasons beyond the CT's appearance, cost, and size for preferring the Rivian. Now I have a 13th reason, based on this interaction with you CT owners seem to be jerks.

BTW, if you want the best electric truck specs, buy a Chevy, it puts the CT to shame on every dimension you mentioned and then some.

Perhaps I could adapt to someone sticking my dick in a vice, but I have no intentions of finding out, sir.

The article doesn’t quote any sources, which is journalism 101 stuff. First of all, he is wrong on 1 million reservations. Second, he failed to quote the source for 2.5% conversion rate. A garbage hit job.

Verify, verify…
You’re so right. Tesla should release actual sales numbers for each model instead of making us calculate what a disaster the CT is.

How is the R1T’s interior inferior in every way? The CT’s interior is laughable at the price point.

You are right. But again neither Rivian nor OEMs don’t break down their numbers. So Kelly Blue Book etc get their numbers from other sources such as vehicle registration data which is easily verifiable.
CT: R1T 5:1 ratio will likely continue well into 2025. Will see which vehicle becomes a verifiable disaster. I am checking out now, see all later after 2025 Q3 numbers are available.

So what you’re saying is it IS possible to figure out how low the conversion rate is for CT reservations. Thanks.
