For my use case, I’m super stoked for the specs of the Scout given it seems it has the off-road chops…but holy crap, 91” width is insane…I’m already a bit bummed I can’t take the R1T through a lot of tighter trails I used to be able to do with the 4runner…
I saw that width too and about spit out my drink. Then dug deeper and realized they gave the width with mirrors unfolded. It’s still a bit wider than Rivian but not quite as wide as an F-150 Lightning (well depending mirror sizes).

Ahh good catch…makes way more sense!

The range extender is a big negative for me. Better than a plug in hybrid I suppose, but still a lot of added complexity for very little benefit.
A standalone generator is not a lot of added complexity. A generator, a fuel tank, and connection to the battery likely through the existing onboard AC/DC converter. An added 150 miles, or ability to tow longer distances, or ability to use in areas without chargers are all obvious benefits with very real use cases.

My wife admitted she might want the SUV over the R3X
thats a very odd couple of cars to choose between since they couldn’t be any more different….

To each their own. Those are all things I've never needed or wanted.

Absolutely. Everyone uses their vehicle differently and has different needs/wants. For me, someone who tows frequently, lives in an area with very limited charging availability and frequently spends time in places with no charging options an ICE range extender makes an EV a viable option again.

The Terra seems like a merged F-150 and R1T
The Traveler seems a merged R1S and R2

So I didn't think about the fact that you can carry extra fuel around with the range extender, possibly extending that added range even further. So I will take back what I said. It doesn't seem fully like a gimmick but it simply feels weird. The infrastructure and technology is likely to be greatly improved in 4-5 years. The on-board generator doesn't seem all that bad, besides the whole burning fuels thing, theoretically though you shouldn't need to use it much.
I charge at work, so 150 mile battery would mean I have an EV for a daily driver, and an ICE for road trips. Seems like a good compromise.

Also I go skiing 200 miles from me a lot... So ICE up the mountain, ski all day , gas up and EV home down the mountain.... Skip the 30 minute charge and replace with 20 minute fuel and bio-dump (take the range anxiety away from friends that go)

Gas tank needs to be sized like a normal pickup truck, or you are going to be stopping quite frequently while towing. Was one of the reasons I lost interest in the BMW i3 REX when it first came out. Sure, possible to use for long distances, but having to stop so much isn't really an advantage the way I see it.

I believe this vehicle is targeting more adventure and overlanding than hardcore off road trails.

Ultimately it looks to be about the same width as the Bronco. I believe the mirros are a bit more rectangular than standard mirrors.

The lenght is about 7" longer than a R1S but it includes the tire carrier.

Nowhere near the same price. R2 is starting at $45k and the Scout is $60k one year later - that’s a big difference. The Scout is a niche purchase given its focus on hard core off roading which the vast majority don’t. Also don’t get the nostalgia angle for a brand that only loved for 19 years and died 44 years ago.
