There is a big deal made at lunch with Gen 2 about using UWB for the key instead of relying on Bluetooth. It was supposed to be supported on pixel, iphone, and Apple watch. But not a word has been mentioned about it since. As far as I can tell there's next to nothing in the owner's manual, and nobody online knows about it either. I've also asked service center staff about it and they don't seem to have a clue either.

As far as I can tell it's not a thing yet.
My boyfriend has a pixel 9 pro, and we tried using that as a key with Bluetooth turned off (which would forced it to use UWB, were it active). Unfortunately it did not work, and the vehicle did not unlock.

My Galaxy device does support UWB but for some reason rivian has left those off of the supported list even though there are far more galaxies in the wild than there are pixels.

Does anyone know anything else about this? Seems like those next to no information out there

Same, was hopeful since my wife has an Apple Watch and I have her old one that I would maybe use if it could do this with the truck. Hoping it still comes later this year.

As far as I know, when/if it does happen, Rivian would be the only supported vehicle for the key functionality without CarPlay which I find interesting.

Samsung phones (Galaxy S21+) need to use Samsung Wallet for digital key support. I currently see support for the following on my Fold5:
  • Genesis
  • Hyundai
  • Kia
  • BMW
  • Mini

Is it not supported via Google wallet on Samsung devices?

I'm also curious if Rivian will use UWB directly from the app rather than going through Google/Samsung wallet. I'm pretty sure iOS doesn't support direct use without going through apple wallet, but it's possible on Android

I think there is a special pairing process required through Google wallet. I don't have a Gen2 so can't see if it's actually possible yet. My guess is they may still be working out issues.

Yeah I'm hoping they roll out sometimes soon

I do find it odd that they have been totally silent on this... You'd think they'd at least say "coming soon" like they have with Google cast
