Guys/Girls - since the IPO filing came out, I have been concerned that Rivian got Bezos'd (if that is a word): lots of cash for Rivian, lots of leverage for Amazon.

Here is a well-known Youtuber's take that is largely consistent with that. The business incentive to me is that Rivian prioritizes the vans over the T/S consumer line. To be fair, I think the supply chain snafu and launch challenges played into this:

Classic I-haven't-watched-the-video-but-I'm-going-to-comment-anyway comment, but I will watch the video later.

I will say that when I saw Bezos' tweet (Now, RJ, where are our vans?!), it sounded like a hardly-veiled threat. yes, you could take that as an innocent, playful tweet akin to your friendly neighborhood mobster tweeting "Now, Kommonplace, where's my money?!"

I doubt Bezos is laughing. I doubt RJ is laughing. I could be wrong.

Well...I gotta say that Bezos trolling Rivian on Twitter was not a good look for either of them:

I think it was more ribbing than a threat.

Public (i.e. via tweet) excoriation of a vested company does not seem like the MO of Bezos (I leave unfiltered tweeting to another billionaire and rival). Personally, I think he should have just tweeted the scene from Harley Quinn (if it was not for copyright):

As for RJ - While he may have recognized it for the ribbing it is, he also is going to realize he has to deliver on his promise. Your boss always gets to make the "jokes" - and thats fine, you survive, as long as they remain jokes.

Pretty sure ol cowboy Jeff knows exactly the status of the vans and the reasons why.

tweet seemed tongue in cheek to me.

And tweets aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.

Dangerous to think that tweets are meaningless. They affect the stock market, elections, etc. at this point.

Was Bezos joking around? Maybe, maybe not, but it sure put a negative finish on an otherwise glowing ("one of the greatest entrepreneurs I've ever met") message.

I believe this Bezos tweet is at least in part a joke. It mimics a tweet from earlier this year that Tory Bruno sent to Bezos, asking him where ULA’s rocket orders were. Doesn’t mean it’s funny, but maybe not as nefarious as it originally seems.

Absolutely agree. Bezos if pissed would have many (serious/official) channels/forums to make that known to RJ.
The more important part of the tweet (his endorsement) was in the first few lines of the tweet. Anything else is just tongue-in-cheek.

Fair enough, although speculative trading has been affected by whims since forever. chairman of(conglomerate) gets new socks? Stock fluctuates.

I think bezos is like some movie monster version of every self important seagull style middle manager with jack russell syndrome ?

To be clear, I'm on board with it being a joke. I just think when you hit a certain, uh, status (like say $200B)... your words are scrutinized and analyzed and they carry a lot of weight, intentional or not.

Plus we have nothing better to do than to analyze things and discuss them since we are apparently in the same boat (yacht?) as Bezor. RJ, where are our trucks and SUVs?! :)

Not sure if you meant to call him Bezor or if a typo, but that would absolutely be Bezos’ super villain name. Bezor, Eater of Worlds!

When a company you've invested heavily in is about to IPO, one would think it wise to avoid making a statement that could be construed negatively even if it wasn't intended that way.

Total accident. Yes, of course I meant to type that. Bezor... Bezos' evil twin. (You can tell because he has a goatee.)

Dunno. I tend to be a bit cynical, but I don't see malice here. I think it's just an out-of-touch Billionaire's attempt at a joke.
