Wait for your custom order rather than jumping and trying to get a $3000 discount. Rivian should certainly not be out $3000 for your antics.

Why would the discount matter to you when you agreed in writing on a price?
Per my previous post... 1. I did not think other vehicles with my build would be available at the same time 2. I did not think the price of the same build would be available for a lower price.

It was lack of interpretation of the terms, and I don’t want anybody else to fall into that same situation.

The only thing you should be mad about is not the money, shit goes on sale all the time. You should be mad that you are waiting for a truck while Rivian is skipping you and putting them in the shop. I don’t know why any new vehicles are hitting the shop until custom orders are fulfilled.

Why would a custom build matter when the same builds are also in the shop and are discounted?
Not sure I’m following. You committed to buy. It happens all the time when there are promos and people afterwards get a better deal. It’s a risk we all face when buying things or services. Rivian, like every other company, put out offers to attract new ones, not further satisfy locked in sales.

Again it’s a bit of bad luck, but you don’t seem to be struggling financially so maybe let it go.

I follow Rivian casually and even I know that they have deals quite often. So for people who want a deal, they just need to wait till one of these deals pops up - before ordering.

Tesla is an excellent example of it happening all the time. They arbitrarily lower the prices of their vehicles all the time and don't give customers credit who just picked them up before the price reduction. Let alone this NOT being a price reduction at all, it's a promotion you do not qualify for.

I am doing this to make other customers aware of my situation so they can maybe be better informed. Maybe my “antics” will help customers.

That was honestly what I was confused about. Why not fulfill an order rather than offering the same build to the general public? I’m guessing it’s lack of system coordination. Frankly, if Rivian was pushing out custom builds before putting them in the shop, it would address OPs concern: he wouldn’t see his exact build being offered for cheaper because he would have his in his driveway.

That being said, this crap happens all the time with lots of businesses. Once in a while they take care of you. Sometimes they don’t. Remember when Tesla would sell a Model 3 for $48k and the following day knock the price down to $42k? 24 hours, $6k difference. People did not get their $$$ back.

Selective being the operative word in that sentence. You understand the purpose of that coupon correct? It’s to attract new buyers. Why should Rivian give a coupon to attract a buyer they already attracted and why should you be angry over it when you were compelled to order at the price you did?

That price was good enough for you to place your order right? So why regret it when you’re getting what you agreed to? If I make a business deal and someone else makes a better one it doesn’t affect me so long as I’ve already decided my deal was fair.

You aren’t losing out on anything as you’re getting what you agreed to. With exception for not getting your truck before the one in the shop. If I were you I’d ask for the shop truck WITHOUT monetary compensation and if Rivian does that they treated you well.

A coupon can undercut an existing price agreement.!! Clearly you are bias!!!!
