For anyone one the fence, Blackstone is currently offering their E-Series 22" electric griddle for just $199. I have it and it works really well with the Rivian. I use a Bluetti AC180 as a "buffer" to keep from overloading the Rivian's 1500W limit, but I've learned that you can pretty easily keep the draw down below 1500W by not cranking both sides of the griddle up to 450 degrees at the same time.

That’s a great deal! I have the 17” one and love it. Got it for around $150 with coupon at Lowe’s. Since it’s only 1500W it works perfectly on the Rivian, as long as I don’t try to use another high powered device at the same time. I did that at a tailgate when someone tried to use a water boiler while I was cooking. No bueno ?

I have this. I got the cart also and use it at home. It’s not as nice mobile because the lid is loose and doesn’t stay on the grill well. Also, the griddle pops off the base part if slid back. But I like the griddle itself.

Oh - I so owe you a patty melt if you ever find yourself in central PA!

I was making two at a time, with the right side of the griddle at 350 and the left side at 450:
  • Previously browned onions staying hot in the upper-right corner
  • 4 slices of buttered rye toast in bottom-right
  • Two smash on the left side

I have this and have used it car camping with the Rivian. Works well. Easy cleanup. Only downside is that it is very very non stick, so for runny things (eggs, pancakes, etc) you need molds or to level your cooking surface very well.

Is it safe material non stick ? Or dirty nonstick material?

***Tangential response that no one asked for alert***

I've been setting my Lodge cast iron griddle across my 2-burner induction cooktop. I like being able to use metal utensils without worrying about wrecking surfaces. Plus, using a two burner cooktop gives me more options (i.e. boiling water).

Only thing is grease management for fattier meats - I have to either pour it off or use paper towels to sop it up. Good for things like grilled cheese and french toast though.

Does the Blackstone fit in the trunk wheel space? It seems pretty heavy!

The cast iron pans work on induction? What burner are using?

The 17” one does for sure as I did that for a couple of road trips. I used the box it came in as well and it fit perfectly in the spare wheel space (without a spare and divider, of course)

I have since upgraded to a Husky tub it fits nicely in but is too tall for the under trunk. But does fit perfectly under the tonneau at least and has room for my smaller tub of utensils and condiments ?

It’s cast iron. Just metal coated in oil makes it non stick but there’s nothing chemical wise to worry about.

Yes - it is a very slick surface. I used these Blackstone Silicone Egg Molds when I did bacon, egg, & cheese sandwiches for breakfast (@COdogman - You'd like them too).

I bought the Blackstone Carry Case for it and it holds it well, along with my non-stick griddle utensils and my silicone egg molds. I keep so much other crap in the R1S spare tire well that I didn't try to see if it would fit, but I will later when my wife gets back with her ride.
