We picked up our R1S in Normal in March 2024 and have only recently received the email confirming shipping address. No word when will arrive. So much for the in order of delivery address.

I've had my truck now since Jun 2022 and am still waiting! I though Rivian would ship them based on when you purchased your vehicle?
I ordered my truck on Nov 29th, 2018, fer chrissakes!

We were told first to last in order of purchase date or VIN. Seems like you should have been one of the early recipients of the adapters. Have you called customer service to ask about it? I would hope they would ship you one asap.

Good luck.

Now that I have it, I hope to use it as little as possible. Keep installing the Adventure Network chargers Rivian!

Oh please. They're delivering exactly as promised. And you're getting yours right on schedule.

Starting ~20 Sept 2024, the adapters now "come with" the vehicles. Meaning they are drop shipped to you shortly after you accept delivery, like all other accessories. This is a new incentive for new purchasers, and is part of the purchase agreement that recent purchasers signed. That is why @MikeBT got his adapter quickly - that's what Rivian promised him.

But for you, and me, and everyone else who purchased their vehicles before then - we had no expectation of receiving an adapter, let alone a FREE adapter, as part of our purchase. Rivian is kindly sending us a free adapter, which they are not obligated to do, and we are getting ours shipped to us in rough order of delivery as Rivian receives supplies from the manufacturer (Tesla controls the manufacture of these devices).

Because you purchased your vehicle in March 2024, you are near the end of the list. Virtually everyone who got their vehicle in 2022 and 2023 already have received adapters - that's more than 75,000 people. And people with March 2024 deliveries have been getting their address confirmation emails over the past few weeks, which shows that they have reached the point in the queue where you are waiting.

Rivian has said they expect to be finished distributing these adapters by the end of January 2025 - that's only two months from now.

There are two steps in the process - first you have to opt-in to receiving the adapter. Those e-mails were sent to people back on ~ 4 April 2024. (If you purchased after ~4 April they sent the emails out in additional batches sometime after that). If you never saw that email or never replied to it, then you're not opted-in and you won't be getting anything. The second step comes when they are ready to ship your adapter - then you will receive an address confirmation email. Your adapter will show up within a few weeks after you respond to confirm your address.

For people like @Whataboykie!, if you are opted in then I suggest you call Rivian, because as a mid-2022 delivery should have gotten your adapter back in June or July like I did. There are glitches all the time, as you might expect for a huge fulfillment operation like this, but for the vast majority the process is going as planned and as expected and as promised.

It seems like, generally speaking, it has gone in order. You are such an outlier that Inwould recommend reaching out as it seems like you may have slipped through the cracks. (June ā€˜23 and received an moth or two ago)

Except some of us were given an IOU at delivery. I took delivery in late June this year with the promise of my NACS adapter arriving sometime in August. I knew that was still a nebulous date since they don't control the production of the adapters, but still like a lot of others, I figured Rivian would do the right thing and send them out to those who have been waiting the longest. I'd say this is even more of a kick in the nuts than my promised PTC since the adapters don't have to be installed at the factory.

Many of us did have an expectation of a free adapter. When I took delivery on May 30 this year, Rivian was explicitly telling us that adapters would be coming in the future. Not everyone has received an address confirmation email either. Some real misinformation posted in this thread.

There's a huge difference between something you were told by your guide and something that is written on the bill of sale. Your guide informed you of the process that was ongoing to get existing owners an adapter, and gave you an estimate of when they though you might get one. But at that point Rivian was absolutely still shipping to existing owners in order of delivery date, and as a June 2024 delivery there is no way in hell you were going to get your NACS adapter by August. They were still shipping to late 2022 deliveries at that point. If you had asked me back then, I would have said you would have yours before 1 March 2025 (and you can go back and read some of my posts from back then - the timeline I have been repeating for more than a year now has been accurate). Rivian has actually been shipping them faster than expected and now they are saying they will be done by the end of January. Since you are near the tail-end of the line, you shouldn't expect to get yours much before then.

My post was most certainly not "misinformation". You were told you would get a free adapter eventually, and that they were being sent out in order of delivery. You were NOT told that it would be delivered with your vehicle, and you were NOT told that it was part of your purchase. Unlike right now when you can go to the website yourself and configure a new vehicle and see that the NACS adapter is now part of the included equipment.

And I did not say that everyone was send an address confirmation email. I said there were two emails, and everyone was sent an OPT-IN email and that you would get the address confirmation email only when they were ready to ship you an adapter. (I also said if you didn't receive an opt-in email, that was an indication of a problem and you should check with Rivian.) As a May 2024 delivery, you are still waiting because Rivian is only now shipping to MARCH 2024 deliveries, and your number hasn't come up yet. This is all 100% consistent with what I said above.

You seem to have missed a big part of my post. Incentives, for all manufacturers, change frequently. Rivian at one point was giving away free home chargers as a purchase incentive, but that was after I bought my vehicle. Did I expect that to apply retroactively to me? No, of course not. Now they are including NACS adapaters with new purchases, as of about 20 Sept 2024, and people who purchased after that are getting their adapters "with" the vehicle. Everyone else, who purchased before then, is in-line to get a free adapter only because Rivian decided to give us a free gift. You know your place in line, and they have been shipping them out in order. Wait your turn and stop whining about how long the line is for your free gift.

Yeah you need to reach out and let them know you’re a gap in delivery. They sometimes need a nudge to get a response. If you’re close to a service center you could also stop by and ask.

The difference you claim is irrelevant anyway. My PTC was on my bill of sale and it's nowhere to be found either, even though new vehicles are arriving with them. Nobody's trying to take Rivian to court over the order in which the adapters are being delivered. Nobody cares if the mention of the adapter came via a guide, a bill of sale, a tweet, an Instagram post, or the hundreds of forum posts about adapters arriving for existing owners. Everyone knows they're coming... someday. It's just a poor decision on Rivian's part to de-prioritize earlier owners' deliveries to lure in prospects with an adapter on day one. The adapter is not more or less free than the PTC or my floormats; they all are included without additional charge beyond the bottom line.

Additionally, if you bothered to read my post, you could have avoided writing that unnecessary lengthy explanation about their timeline. That was never in question.
