Charging issues - Vehicle Error

Folks, since past one week I am getting Vehicle Error while charging. I am using Tesla Universal Wall Connector. Gen2 R1S performance dual motor; less than a month old.

The vehicle will charge for 10-15 minutes and then error out. It asks to plug out and back in. Once I re-plug in the charger, it works without issues.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Just had that issue right now. Walked out to the car (Gen1 R1S QM). As soon as the door unlocked it started charging again.

I’ve had the same issue since purchase. Just got my car back from the SC and they said that one of my pins in the charge port was loose and this was causing the port to give false temperature readings. I’ve charged twice since the repair and all good so far. Hope this helps.

I’ve had this happen a few times with my Gen 1 quad at destination chargers and RAN stations. Have an appt coming up to address this.

Have this same issue… I have a Tesla wall charger and the Lectron adapter .. I have, at least in my situation, come to realize that it is caused by the tension on the cable pulling on the adapter, and subsequently making for not a perfectly snug fit, so the connection is not solid. Strange that we are experiencing this at the same time.. Mine started last Sunday. What I have done is loop the cable over the port door hinge to remove the tension on the plug and that seems to have solved the issue … not a “fix” but rather a ”hack”

I had the same issue at a Tesla Supercharger station with my Tesla adapter today. Might be a coincidence but the charge failure seemed to occur simultaneously with me putting the car into Pet mode and trying to step away from the car and it would not accept a charge again after unplugging and replugging multiple times.

Seems to be charging fine on my Rivian wall charger at home now though.

I hope it’s a random issue or bug and not a pin problem that requires an appointment.

Do you know if this is a service center repair or can mobile service handle?
The mobile service did come out but he said that I would have to go into the service center. The mobile technician said that they are not equipped to address battery related issues.

Geez. Good thing the Altanta service center which is the closest to me at a paltry 4.5 hour drive has their first appointment slot as January 5 2025!

I've had the same problem with the included portable Rivian charger at home on my 2025 R1T DM. I find the issue often self-resolves without me touching a thing (it just resumes charging randomly), although i did have to hard reset the car the other week as it just stopped charging at all (indicated it was taking current but the charge % wouldn't go up). Hard reset resolved the no charge problem but I still get the periodic failures and to date have just continued to ignore them.

I charge at home overnight via a Tesla Wall Charger since Dec ‘23. I recently started experiencing stop/start charging. I know when this occurs because I can hear the normal knock sound the charger makes at the start and end of a charge. I heard it last night and received a notification on my phone that my vehicle stopped charging at 56% but it restarted on its own and completed successfully.

A few of you mentioned scheduling service. Other than what was mentioned, what were other remedies? And those that applied a fix has it permanently resolved the problem?

I checked Electrafi and it shows a charger kw drop from 11 to 10.9 at the exact time but there’s no indication that charging stopped.

This happened again last night. I was charging to 80% and this morning noticed an alert on my phone that charging stopped at 64% but started again since it completely successfully to 80%. I will do a hard reset before my next charging session.

That's mostly on you... If you weren't comfortable with service being a 4.5 hour drive away then you shouldn't have bought a Rivian. You gambled that you wouldn't have to bring it in and you lost. Take some responsibility for your choices.
