I'll take it out when I need it or feel the trajectory will be negative. Right now, I feel like keeping a long position will appreciate in value. If that changes, I will close my position as soon as possible. I might buy and sell dips between now and then but I will remain an investor until that becomes a bad investment. My cost basis is around the current stock price thanks to averaging down, so I'll be playing with house money soon enough.
This is the way. I bought the dip and average down below $11 ? I was so tempted to get out during the last run, but was waiting on the DOE closing. Shockingly, it didn't rocket ? .

They announced it closed on Thursday. 2 phases, phase one 3.4 billion, phase 2 2.6 billion. No other details on the phases.

Stupid me bought right after the IPO. I did average down but still way under water. It will be a tax write off for my kids. LOL

Nah, have faith. I came from an Escalade ESV, and my RS1 blows it out of the water. By far my favorite car. Once they can produce R2 and R3 for the masses, there is no reason why this company can't go pass $100. However, I still think it's going to be very volatile until 2027. I prefer that, since i'm a trader. Worse case, i'm stuck with a company I like and believe in.

I will sell my Rivian IPO stock when the company no longer interests me which will probably be around the same time I sell my Rivian vehicle.

My losses on the Rivian vehicle will almost certainly be greater than any losses (or gains ?) on the Rivian stock so the value of the Rivian stock is very unlikely to impact my decisions.

Indeed. It was Thursday night. I was so excited on Friday, but it fizzled.
Same thing happened with other loans as well given speculation on ability to repay. Have a look at PLUG...

I entered at 11.91. My wife entered at 15.xx. My expectation is ~450 in the next 10yrs minimum.

It’s silly to have a locked in price target to sell at when company valuations are such a fluid thing

I’ve had most stocks in my portfolio for ten years or more, but I also dollar cost average into my positions over months and years. I only buy if I intend to sell no sooner than 5 years and this will be no different. No price target as long as I believe they have a future.

That makes perfect sense if you're an investor, but some of us are traders. I have a target price and exit my position and wait for the next dip.

Agree to a certain point. However, I think it's silly not to harvest profits when you're up 100% and it's a volatile stock. I set a price to keep myself disciplined and not get greedy. It can easily drop and I lose out on all my gains.
