Wanted to post a quick early review of this tire - I have been waiting a while for it and it now appears to be easily available at Tire Rack. The LT 275/65/20 version has been out for a while but I was looking for the above version instead and found it at TR.

With the new partnership between TR and DT, I was able to get these shipped directly to a local discount tire location. Got them installed for about $100.
Previously had 30K miles on the Pirelli Scorpions and that is the comparison

Price - easy win for the Toyo here, about $100/tire cheaper
Ride Quality and Handling - fairly subjective, but I think improved. Would be best to compare a new set of Pirellis to these. I felt like my ride quality in the pirellis had really deteriorated in the last few thousand miles so not exactly apples to apples.
Efficiency - I'm sitting at 1.87 miles/kWh with cold temps after a few hundred miles, probably was closer to 1.8 last winter with the Pirelli's here in Colorado. Will be more clear over the lifetime of the tires.
Snow/Ice - Fairly significant win for the Toyo's so far. In the Pirelli's I felt like I would get small slips that the traction control would quickly correct for, haven't had any of those so far and it feels very rock solid over snow and ice.
Off Road - TBD but the sidewall looks beefier and I suspect will be better.
Appearance - Personally I significantly prefer the Toyo.
Noise - fairly minimal, didn't have much of an issue personally with the Pirelli's either though.

Overall this seems to be a definite improvement on the Pirelli's at this early stage and would recommend for those looking for a replacement tire for their 20" tires.

Thanks - these are the tires I'm planning to get when I need a set - I'm at about 25K on my original Pirellis. Rivian mobile service was just here to replace my 12V battery and he said that my tires look great (7/32) for my mileage. I'll definitely be needing the Toyo's before next winter though.

Also, Colorado, I'm eying these to put on this spring, they look great and I like the 45 lbs weight. Do you know what your summer efficiency was with the OEMs? Seems like this could be a good balance between road and occasional off-road.

My lifetime for the Pirellis was 2.2 mile/kWh and was around that for most of the summer. Definitely improved as the tread depth wore down. So again difficult to say for sure how the efficiency will shake out, but at worst it should be the same.

I am also interested in this tire (and also in Colorado). How would these compare with OEM Pirellis off road? I do some pretty gnarly rock crawling and know that the Pirellis were on the R1S that did the Rubicon trail successfully so want to make sure I'm not putting myself at higher risk with these. TIA!

Edit: Seems that the "non EV tuned" version of the Toyo Open Country A/T III would be a slightly better off road tire at the expense of cost and weight. Interesting that the tread width of the EV tuned version is 8.6" and the non EV tuned version is 9.1" (which is also the Pirelli) so in theory better snow/ice traction? Thoughts?

If off roading is a big priority, you could go for the LT version which will be a bit heavier and less efficient but probably better off road.

I took my pirellis up Mt Antero on the stock Pirellis. I don’t have any personal experience with the Toyos yet off road but Toyo has a strong reputation for off road capability. snow and ice traction is definitely better in the Toyos, I presume that will also translate to off road.

Lol I also did Mt Antero last summer on the stock Pirellis! They did very well. I've got 17k miles and 7mm left on my Pirellis so will wait likely for the fall to get new shoes. Would love to hear your experience in the meantime!

Like many in the Denver/Boulder area, I got to experience the Toyo's snow handling first hand over the last week. Boulder has a well earned reputation for not getting their roads cleared after a snow storm. I drove down several uncleared roads and really had no issue. I drove slowly, as dictated by the conditions, and didn't really slide around very much at all. Snow Mode worked much better than it ever did with the Pirellis.

All in all, I'm still very happy with the Toyo ATs.

Are yours are the higher load index version of the Toyo Open Country A/T III EV? They are the same width as the Pirelli and 2 lbs heavier so should have similar or better performance. Some are just getting the SL version of the same tire, which is significantly lighter (45 lbs) with 0.5 inches narrower tread, which would make it not quite as good off road but in theory better efficiency on road. I do quite a bit of off roading so trying to decide between the 2 versions of the Toyo.

Same for me this past weekend except drove from San Jose to South Lake Tahoe. Started snowing by The Echo Pass and through the night around SLT. Felt traction was great. Wasn’t ripping through roads due to traffic but easily handled some light packed snowy roads and some slush going 45-50mph.

My efficiency from San Jose to El Dorado Hills was about 2.05 mi/kw, but I had selected a Rivian Charger and when it started preconditioning battery my efficiency massively dropped. Charge rate was amazing but wasn’t happy with it affecting efficiency bc I’m trying to track these tires.

Ride home I didn’t select the RAN charger and charge rate was still great. Almost all downhill to charger so mi/kw was 3+.

Both trips up and down I averaged 70-78 mph, except for snowy roads or traffic. Majority of time was 75-78 mph and I was going with traffic and people passing me.

My current avg is 1.99 mi/kw at 775 miles on new tires. I really don’t know how people avg 2.1 or higher. My drives usually have a change of 300ft elevation but driving home at night my beginning avg is 1.5-2 and it always keeps me around 1.95 on the avg.

Interested to hear from others on PSI and driving habits. I usually go around 72-74 mph on highway except traffic in my daily commute.

Absolutely love the feel of this tire over the OEMs.

The only controllable variable is speed (although I guess picking one route over another can yield efficiency benefits)
major factors for efficiency are speed, temp/air density (elevation). With non-LT tires at 40 MPH efficiency might be 2.75 MPK, but only 1.75 MPK at 80 mph. Can also subtract 0.2 MPK if 40 F instead of 60 F, or add 0.2 MPK if 80 F instead of 60 F….

LT sizes going to be around 20% less efficient than the lighter weight tires. Increasing PSI on LTs can reduce that slightly.

I’ve seen limited increases in efficiency when using Conserve mode…best case is it might increase range by around 3-4%…

I got the LT275/65 R20 E2
Also, I've got 4239 miles on these tires and I'm averaging 2.21mi/kWh.
